Without Kane, Son,Dele there is no hope for us away at Chelsea. This in spite of leading the tie & Cheksea in poor form. We have to put up a great defensive performance on 25th to go through but then it's been lacking all season.

In a weird way without Dele we might retain the ball better which is what we need to do in these games. Might be worth having Sissoko winks and Dier in this one with Eriksen and Lamela/ Lucas further up and a back five.

Massively depends who is fit, as a fit Alli and Sissoko would help us immensely.

I don’t think either will be fit so would go with this team:

Gazza

Kwp Toby Vertonghen Rose

Dier

Winks Skipp

Eriksen Lamela

Moura

I think swarm their midfield, especially Jorginho and winks and skipp have the energy to do that.

Dier adds protection.

Eriksen, Lamela and Moura can all rotate and make it hard for Chelsea to pick up their movement.

We need to play deeper and hit them on the counter attack.

Once Lamela has a yellow and no more warnings, hook him for gnk so we can utilise his pace to break nearer the dying stages of the game.

As much as I think we need to win some silverware, and this is obviously a route to do that (despite Man City waiting to rip someone to pieces in the final).

I'm surprised how many people are leaving Foyth on the bench and 'risking' injuries to yet more 'key players'.

Surely, during such a massive injury crisis as we're currently enduring, we do have to cast a cautious eye towards preserving as many 'key players' as possible, if possible?

We're very well stocked for centre backs.

And what games were you thinking we should preserve key players for, if a cup semi final doesn't qualify?

Wasn't / am not thinking of any particular games. Just trying to think of the bigger picture really.

I've been on here long enough to know how this all plays out. People saying Vertonghen, Alderweireld & Sanchez "must play because it's a cup semi final" but you can guarantee the very same people will return if we lose, and one of those players gets injured, and they'll be saying "Poch was fucking stupid to select our best players during such a massive injury crisis when we'll get torn to shit by City anyway".

Like I said. I was/am just trying to look at the bigger picture, certainly not looking to step on anyone's toes.

i was thinking what kind of team we will put out against chelsea, obviously the diamond has worked before to stop jorginho. If that is the plan again i wonder if we will do a midfield 3 of eriksen, winks and dier , lamela at the tip of the diamond and then lucas and llorente up front. Lamela gets in a tackle and can mark out Jorginho, Lucas can support llorente and hit chelsea on the break. just a thought this could well happen.

If fit Poch would surely want to include Sissoko for this one. Wouldn't surprise me to see him at right wing-back if we line up in a similar formation to the Fulham-game.

I'm expecting the pattern of the game to be that Chelsea have the majority of the ball. We're going to have be mobile, and have a threat on the counter. Even before his struggles at the weekend, I didn't think this would be a game for Llorente for instance.

All depends on if we get anyone else back fit, but I'd probably look to go with something like:

Gazza
Whoever Toby Jan Rose
Winks Dier Eriksen
Sissoko Lamela Moura

Subs: Lloris, Sanchez, RB, Davies, Skipp, Nkoudou, Llorente
If Sissoko/Moura don't make it, I'd (and I cant believe I'm saying this) quite possibly throw Nkoudou in who can fulfil a similar role.

I think, due to us being somewhat unsettled, they'll set out to be physical, rattle us as much as possible and pump up the crowd in a stadium with an almost certain hostile (nasty) atmosphere.

Another Battle at The Bridge. Wonder if Dier will play.

Don't even want to think about what the bench will look like, but that 11 can beat Chelsea.

we might need to find that double decker bus we used when Moaninho wasn't to happy with our set up, is it fit, or is that injured and in the scrap yard, it was quite awhile ago now
