Vic looks shot. Am hoping against hope that Janssen at least makes the bench.

Saints have been playing much better under their new boss so this won't be easy.

Spoke to a Saints fan at work and he said that whilst they have been improving, they're still really suspect at the back and can't keep clean sheets. He also said that their Strikers are largely crocked. No Ings, Austin is playing with an injury so they only have Long.

We really need to win this game before a long break so we should go full strength. Need to abandon the back 3 for a back 4, have more attacking players on the pitch and try to get an early goal.

Team in the OP would be my choice as well. Dele on the bench if he's fit enough.

Not been any talk of Winks being injured as far as I've seen so hopefully he was subbed off as a precaution.

Without Winks, I seriously worry about us in possession and opening up the opposition. It's a damning indictment that Foyth would probably be more comfortable receiving the ball and passing forwards than our available CMs...

Doesn’t sound like he’s going to play. Maybe he’ll be fit enough to be on the bench and come on if required.

It’s a game we should be winning, I’m more confident of getting a result against them than I was about Burnley for instance.

I'd go full strength but drop Eriksen to the bench, not because of rest but because his form has been terrible.

Assuming Winks is out

Lloris
Aurier
Toby
Jan
Rose

Sissoko
Dier

Son
Lamela
Moura

Kane

Gazz, Davies, KWP, Wanyama, Dele, Eriksen, Llorente

Time to stick to one formation for the rest of the season. I’m all for the 3 at the back. Chopping and changing all the time is not helping us this season.
Now Dele’s back, Eriksen drops out.

Issue I have in that 3-4-3 is who is playing the cute balls to Dele?
I don't think it's much of a coincidence that with Dele out, Eriksen has suffered. It's the cute runs vs the direct play of say a Son or Kane... someone who ghosts into space, the box.

Son, Dele, Kane with passing from Dier and Sissoko? Hmmm, I mean, it just highlights that as good as Sissoko has been etc... we still really need a midfielder who has both engine and passing ability if you want to play with that system.

No one gets rested.
In my opinion its not about resting Eriksen because of fatigue, but resting him because of poor form. Eriksen has not been with the program for sometime now although alot on here will deny it

So dropping him, not resting.

I don't think you'll find anyone who would dispute that Eriksen has been in poor form. Unfortunately the players that might replace him like Lamela and Moura have done nothing to suggest they're a better bet than even an out of form Eriksen.

Wow looking at the team, such a lack of creativity, technique and touch in there. Most of the skill lies in the CB! Very poor poor scouting not identifying technical players.

For me, the front 4 pick themselves (when fit) which necessitates more a Dier-type of holding DM in front of a back 4 so Winks missing out makes it an easy choice in my view.

The FBs (on recent form) are pretty clear too so i reckon it will be:-

Hugo
Aurier Toby Jan Rose
Dier Sissoko
Dele Eriksen Sonny
Kane

If Aurier could produce his performance from the second half on Tuesday in a full game then id feel much better about our defence's ability to keep clean sheets on a regular basis.

Well there's no Eriksen, Winks, Lucas or Lamela in that lineup for starters...

Swap Moura for Son and hope that he plays in a position he's familiar with.

I beg to disagree as I would put Lamela in his place in a heart beat, What if Eriksen was to get injured? Are you saying that we then would be doomed because we didnt have an alternative? Disagree all you want but I can see that part of our poor results in recent games is down to our weakened midfield playing an off form Eriksen

Same team again, except rose comes in.

We've won every game after a CL tie this season except for Man city which we shouldn't have lost
