You just can't drop Lamela or Lucas after their last performance. We have depth now, if you perform well, you should keep your spot. (1G and 1A against arguably the best club in the world at the moment should warrant a start IMO)

Lloris
KWP Sanchez Verts Rose
Dier Ndombele
Lucas Lamela Son
Kane

If we're struggling to penetrate, we have Eriksen and Lo Celso to bring on in the second half.

With the creativity in midfield provided from Ndombele, I'd like to see Dier resume his previous role as the anchor of our midfield. This would be the game to try it out and blood him back in before we play Arsenal next week. I think he will be effective at controlling and winning the ball back for us again if he can focus more on the defensive side of his game and not be expected to get the ball forward. (like the Dembele-Dier pivot)

Subs: Gaz, Toby, Davies, Winks, Sissoko, Lo Celso, Eriksen

But equally, Pochettino will be selecting players with the opposition in mind and possibly even the fixture “pileup” soon to come when the CL proper starts.

That said, I’d also like to see what a Son / Lamela / Lucas / Kane front 4 could do to the opposition.

Hopefully Son is ready to tear it up right from the off. We need a convincing win.

IMO, Eriksen has got his head up his arse at the moment and can sit this one out. Lo Celso to come on early second half. Sissoko to run at tired legs in second half also. Maybe Dier to grab a few minutes if he's ready to go.

I think Lo Celso should start. The team which has the best chance of beating Arsenal next week includes him in the starting XI. But before we know if he can do that, he needs minutes against Newcastle.

We don't really need Sissoko for this one. Newcastle will be cramped in their own box. Suspect Sanchez will keep his place. Would like Son to get minutes before NLD, even if it means one of Lamela or Moura to miss out.

For me this is spot on. I think it is crucial we win and win well this game after the shaky nerve jangling start. Jan and Vert are tried and tested and have been a formidable pairing so seem an obvious choice (this not a game to rotate). If. Lo Celso is as good as they say, then he shouldn't need games sitting on the bench and watching - just what is he learning from that and what is Poch learning about him? Ndombele is settling in well. That front 4 of Christian, Lucas, Sonny and Harry is phenomenal and should scare the shit out of Newcastle. This selection, for me, should kick start our season with style and justify the predictions we will finish at least 3rd.

I'm thinking of the Poch 4-1-4-1 from a while ago...

Have a feeling that Sonny will be introduced as a sub during the game just as hit match sharpness won't be the best, and therefore probably start with Winks in a 4-2-3-1.
