Really not sure why some have a real problem with 3 at the back. For me it’s our best system. Some of our best performances last season (Liverpool, Dortmund, Real Madrid etc) have all been with this system. The season before where we finished 2nd the majority was with a 3.
With everyone fit we’d also have a quality bench (Lucas, Son, Lamela, Winks etc) to change things if needed.
Just hope the absolute horror show at Watford doesn’t stop Poch from using 3 against Liverpool. Crucial he gets it right.

Have to be aggressive and solid against Liverpool and their high press. Need pace and energy on the break. Not a day for messing around passing at the back!
Kane needs to hold the ball up play people in and stay up top as a target.

Lloris
Trippier Alderwereld Vertonghen Rose
Dier Wanyama
Moura Eriksen Son
Kane

Vorm
Lamela
Dele
Aurier
Llorente
Dembele
Winks

Whenever we can go top with a win, we always seem to implode the last few seasons
Scum home against ten men, pikeys away... Etc.
I mentioned it before the game that we could fuck up and unfortunately we did

But hopefully we can learn from the defeat and the Manor of it, and i believe we will and come back stronger with no more stupid selections from poch... ie... Dembele holding.
Wanyama please and hopefully Winks too and drop those who dont turn up.

Vorm, Davies, Sanchez, Dier, Dembele, Dele, Lamela

Don’t agree on wanyama, has to be dier. But was thinking myself moura and son either side of Kane seems obvious. And there’s definitely a very strong argument Winks would play that role a lot better than dele.

If not mentioned Sanchez is playing for Colombia in USA 1.30 weds AM which likely with jet lag would rule him out and a back 3. Firminio and Alisson are in same situation.

Im a firm believer that whilst the formation employed is important it is not half as important as to the actual tactic employed. Against all those teams you mentioned we counter attacked them. They were going to have the majority of the ball so we sat back and hit them on the counter. Against Watford for example, that tactic was never going to wash and work because Watford were doing to us what we will have done to those teams.

3 at the back worked against Liverpool and Real last season. I think the reason it fucked up on Sunday was purely down to an overrun midfield with Dembele in the holding position. I worry about a back four against the Bin Dipper front three.

You’re playing twelve players mate.

Actually thinking about Sanchez situation I think he’ll almost certainly play if possible as we need his pace and last ditch recovery.

Those games you mention all have one thing in common. Our style of play was to sit deep, give up possession and counter. It's not something we can do with any sort of regularity in the Prem.

We didn’t really sit deep against Liverpool in either game. We have played attacking football with 3 at the back. The season before last we played the majority of the season with a 3. Scored the most goals, conceded the least. Lost the least games. This system does work and especially against the better teams we should be going with it. Would be crazy to go with a 4 against Liverpool.

It's a tricky one as just don't know how ready Winks is to start (and Wanyama was a pleasant surprise being on bench against Watford).

If playing a 3-4-2-1 I'd be tempted to play:

Lloris

Sanchez Alderweireld Vertonghen

Trippier Wanyama Winks Rose

Eriksen Moura

Kane

(Wanyama / Winks bit risky as will be rusty though!)

If 4-2-3-1:

Lloris

KWP Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose

Dier Winks

Moura Dele Eriksen

Kane
