Will Dele and Winks be fit ? With his hand injury I would think Dele should play in a more advanced role

If both are fit :

Lloris
Trippier Toby Jan Rose
Winks Sissoko Eriksen
Lucas Son Dele

If Dele is not able to start :

Lloris
Trippier Toby Jan Rose
Wanyama Sissoko Winks
Lucas Son Eriksen

If Winks is out :
Lloris
Trippier Toby Jan Rose
Wanyama Sissoko Eriksen
Lucas Son Dele

If both are out :
Lloris
Trippier Toby Jan Rose
Wanyama Sissoko Eriksen
Lucas Llorente Son

I think Lucas and Son with Dele and Eriksen would be extremely fluid and would cause them all sorts of issues and problems. They didnt really know how to defend against us when Kane came off.

I think Lucas and Son bring that unpredictability and pace which will get us one if not two goals.

The key to the game is simple - defence and a bit of luck but mainly defence... One goal and theyre still capable of three...

5-4 to Man Shitty but we win anyways overall 5-5 on aggregate

This is my team, defensive strength and counter attacking ability. That's it, no room for an ideal best eleven, but the one I think can get the job done on the night. City will come hard at us, and we need to be compact and ready to pounce.

Lloris

Trippier
Alderweireld
Vertonghen
Rose

Wanyama
Sissoko
Dele

Lucas
Son
Eriksen

*Winks to come on later on, especially if we need more control

That's how Liverpool beat them last year.

Hopefully Lucas or Son can nick a goal on the counter. We also get one more days rest.

Can see us going through

Son and moura could be key here but im not sure if its best to start them both? I cant decide.

---------------Hugo------------
-Trip---Toby---Jan---Rose-
------Sissoko----Winks-----
---------------Eriksen----------
-----Moura---Son----Alli-----

Im actually not very confident here. I worry about us giving up possesion in bad areas.
As for tactics......

Look for the quick forward ball via eriksen to moura and son. Eriksen MUST step up and help dictate the play with winks. We need him to knit it all together.
Secondly..... lets get the ball to sissoko on the half turn so he can drive forward to break the lines of city and find a forward.

I want to be romantic and say we will do this buuuut i just cant see it guys tbh. City are pretty un-stoppable at home as far as scoring goals go. We have to go up 2 levels to do this and im unsure if we have that in the tank right now.

That's why we should play Wanyama, Sissoko and Dele. Fucking boss them.

Personally I think Moura will be scratching to be let out of the trap on Tuesday. The guy was elated with his hat trick and I feel his endeavours should be rewarded with a full match. Keep Son in reserve for second half. Don't even mind seeing Llorente on at first whistle just to make them wonder what's going on.
I reckon we can scrape a well earned 1-1 draw or lose 2-1 and go through on away goals....quietly confident that the Gods are with us....(y)

Deep down i agree. Perhaps scrap it out for a long period before bringing winks on as u said. But if we are playing sissoko AND wanyama in a cm trio surely we need eriksen in there otherwise citys press will get us nowhere imo.

Agree about moura but son on the bench, seriously? He is our man for goals and you want to keep him on the bench in the biggest game in our recent history? No way!

I’d go for our tallest and widest players , everybody on top of each other leaving no gaps standing with Hugo on the goal line,
clean sheet go through boom

Only until half time....trouble is Poch never, ever does first half substitutions unless there's an injury so if it's not working out he wouldnt introduce him early. Should we start with Son ? as they used to say in the old films "No, that's exactly what they expect us to do"....(y)
Need to box clever for this one.....that's for sure. We shall agree to differ....let's also hope your fears of losing prove to be unfounded my friend.

I somehow think Victor playing the whole 90 minutes today was because he wouldn't be playing v City . I'm not sure he is fit enough for that one too, possibly later sub but unlikely starter I think

Shitting it already and its 4 days away:nailbiting:

Hope winks makes it. Moura & son up top for me. Means we will probably have nothing off the bench though.

Winks will be vital for this game as he was in the first leg. I think we’ll struggle badly without him in midfield. Also not ideal that Wanyama played the full 90 minutes today, can he cope with another game this soon?

Depends whose fit, really. If neither Dele or Winks can go, i’d go 343 with Lucas and Son either side of Llorente and Eriksen next to Sissoko in CM.

Wouldnt start Wanyama regardless, in all honesty. He’s lost a ton of mobility. It’s sad but it’s true. Pep will attack here. He wouldnt be able to cope. Skipp would have a better chance.

Wanyama is pushing for a start, but he could be very useful for the last 20min of this game. His mobility has been good the last two outings, managed to be mobile enough to get into the box and score today!

Llorentes hold up play has also been very good, again a useful tool for this game if we are under the cosh late on
