Sissoko is key man for this one IMO. We hsve to try and find him in space to get him driving at citys back line. Nobody can stop the guy. Fernan and gundogan have no chance once mousa gets going. Problem is we could loose some defensive resistance which will already be tested to the maximum. Alli must play further forward too.

-----------winks-----Eriksen-----------
------------------Sissoko-----------------
------Son--------Kane--------Alli-------

Go get em moussa!!!!

(Pretty much As we finished last night)...

Hugo
Tripps Toby Jan Rose
Winks Sissoko
Eriksen Dele Sonny
Kane

Subs: Gazza, Foyth, Dier, Llorente, Moura, Davies
Thats team I'd go for.
Son is more effective on the left than anywhere else imo. Scare their full backs and push them back. If they stay forward we'll do them on the counter.
Cross field ball from Eriksen to Son on the counter 0.1 :)
Shit we got City. Just feels like norrmal game not CL to me.

I’d start Davies, Rose, Toby, Sanchez, Jan or pretty much anyone for that matter at RB against City sooner than Trippier. It is negligent to start Trippier in this game in current form. City RINSE him regularly even when he’s in good form and he hasnt been anywhere close to even halfway decent form this season. Seriously. Trippier against City is nightmare fuel. If Aurier is not available, KWP simply must start this game. Starting Trippier here is just asking to get pumped

Lloris
Aurier/KWP Toby Vertonghen Rose
Winks Sissoko
Eriksen Dele Son
Kane

Gazzaniga, Sanchez, Trippier, Dier, Lucas, Lamela, Llorente

Of course this is assuming Dier, Lamela and Llorente are available

I’d start Stephen Carr over Trippier at the moment ???????

I think the team picks itself, with Winks coming in for Davies, Rose dropping back to LB and reverting to a 4–2-3-1. But I share everyone’s concern about Trippier defensively, especially against Sane. So I would personally play Toby right-back - where he’s played a huge number of times, including for Belgium - with Davinson & Jan in the middle. I think that’s much more solid if we’ve only 4 at the back. Trippier is a wing back, but not a right-back in a regular 4. I also don’t share the faith of others in KWP.

I know Poch won’t do this of course. But the success of Jan at left back should be a lesson.

Not sure Aurier will be fit and it would be a big surprise if KWP plays ahead of Trippier

I was thinking about the teams that City have struggled against the past two seasons. Firstly Palace and Leicester, abused them on the wings especially Leicester where they had Maddison out wide. Then of course you have Liverpool, who took advantage of the City high line, they had an industrious midfield who maybe lacked technical ability but they worked so hard to double up with their fullbacks, closing off that space extremely well because city are the masters of the across the goal 6 yard box finish. This allowed the wingers to stay up high also.

In that case I'd be looking at bringing in Moura in with him and Son either side of Kane but then you'd be looking at having to sacrifice either Eriksen or Dele and I just can't see that happening, I wouldn't want to do that either but I do think we absolutely have to start Winks. So it's difficult because I'd love to see two proper wingers but I don't think it's worth the sacrifice who'd we would be losing.

Lloris
Trippier Alder Vert Rose
Sissoko Winks
Eriksen Dele Son
Kane

Alternatively

Lloris
Trippier Alder Vert Rose
Sissoko Winks
Moura Eriksen Son
Kane

But as I say I can't imagine losing Dele for a game like this because he tends to shine in the big moments. It's not a bad problem to have but there's that small part of me that would love to see us go two wingers and take advantage of the highline but I don't see Poch sacrificing any of our usual front 4.

Edit: Also if Mendy is LB we would be fools not to take a run at him.
