They're a tough physical side and have a very good home record.

Really like Son but don't think this is the game for him, could see him getting bullied by those defenders.

In anycase we should use the squad in a week where we have 3 games and I think Swansea away would be a better game for Son and Janssen more suited to the physical Burnley one.

Lloris

Dier
Alderweireld
Vertonghen

Walker
Wanyama
Dembele
Davies

Dele
Eriksen

Janssen

Subs: Vorm, Trippier, Sissoko, Winks, Wimmer, Onomah, Son

They will handle Janssen well but not sure they will handle sons pace.

Then again it is like two weeks away

That's a fair point, but we want the ball to stick a hell of a lot more than it did today in that second half.

Son could be a good sub to bring on for this one.

We really missed having a focal point today.

Think it'll be the same that started against Southampton subject to any injuries.

Would prefer Janssen to start though.

I agree about the focal point for sure. I just think son offers more goal threat

I think Keane and Mee will relish a physical battle with Janssen. Son could run down down the channels, does he have the ticker for an intimidating place like Burnley though?

He does mate, I'm also just thinking about the type of game it will be, might be a bit scrappy.

I could see Son filling his boots against Swansea.

I'd probably play the same lineup. If Dembele gets a lot of time with Belgium I would be fine with Winks coming in. If we aren't up at half time, I'd like to see Vince on early with Son and Eriksen moving deeper.

If we're playing Janssen I'd go with Trippier too to feed him with crosses.

Plus Walker is coming back from a knock and will only likely play 2 out of the 3 games that week. Burnley also aren't blessed with pace and it will be against Trippier's old club so he will be extra fired up.

I like the idea of playing Trippier - playing your old club always fires a player up.

Not sure mate. You're right they will relish a physical battle, and I get the point that Son's nimblesness could cause them problems I'm just not sure he offers the workrate to use his directness to his advantage at a place like Burnley.

Janssen will give them a battle, what worries me is that Son won't at all, and that might affect our ability to control the game.

Second half today we lost complete control and havn't seen that for quite sometime, no focal.point was at the heart of the reason. Janssen came on, albeit Winks as well, and regained some control.

At a tough place like Burnley we can't afford to look how we looked second half today imo.

I'd be tempted to go with Janssen as well. If we play Son they will press us like mad and force Lloris to hoof it all over the place, I don't think the ball will stick.

It might be worth trying to get both of them in there. Son is dangerous on the left. It might actually be worth a change of formation for this since they play 442.

Maybe we should go:

Lloris
Walker/Trippier Toby Verts Davies
Wanyama Winks
Eriksen Alli Son
Janssen

I think Son pace is exactly what's needed in this game. I'd pick the same team that started against Southampton.

It's not out of the realms of possibility he'll use Alli as the false 9 and bring Winks in to try and dominate the midfield.

Isn't that what Chelsea did with Hazard away at Burnley - or am I getting the wrong game?

In all honesty I wouldn't mind playing both, but that involves taking someone else out.

But as WiganSpur says above, having seen what happened today, Burnley would be mad not to press us high and force us to kick it long with Son up top and it wouldn't stick. Would be the most obvious tactic ever after watching that second half today.

Yeah I think you're right on that, but will be interesting to see if Poch does approach this game differently either way.
