today sitting there waiting for a fare at Hertford North Station, 2 adults and 3 brats (2 screamers lol) went to get in the taxi in front.
noticing there being 5 bodies I knew I might be taking them to where ever. All I noticed was a young family that never looked the best off (I know the look, I see it in the mirror each morning lol). so they get in, and even though there were 3 sprogs I'm still entitled to put it up 1 extra rate. a fellow driver noticed them and he even said "your not going to put it on rate 2 are you", I did when I pulled off, but after the 1st mile I told them I was going to drop it back to rate1.
I also mentioned that once in Stevenage I'd most probably need directions, and with 2 screamers I never really had the chance to chat. when we got to Stevenage FC he started directing me, was able to chat, and after hearing he was visiting and where he lived "Marbaya" I decided to look in my mirror at the person sitting behind me, as I then knew i'd messed up.
low and behold it was David Bentley (shouldn't of put the rate down),
asked him who he really supported as a kid, and he actually said that he didn't. he never came from a family that followed any team, so wasn't really bothered
asked him if he missed the game, and said he always aimed to retire early.
unfortunately never got to ask him much more due to arriving, so asked him for the £25 that was on the meter, told him not to bother about the odd, and the t***t g*t never even chucked me a penny drink.
as that old saying goes "never judge a book by it's cover", only cost me about £8, but over a year that would soon mount up
