He's not really a similar player to De Jong ? And Barca wouldn't sign a player like Ndombele he's not the type of CM they play
It’s not 2009 any more - in recent years Barcelona have played Rakitic, Paulinho and Vidal in CM regularly. Of course he’s the type of CM they play.

The funniest part of that is Torreira is one of their most promising players, and reports have come up that they've made him available for a move to Milan

Woolwich now buying bargain basement Europa League standard players for another crack at that Europa League competition.

The exciting thing about this transfer is the amount of issues it solves. Depth in midfield, ball playing ability from the middle, releasing Eriksen and Dele to play further forward, can partner pretty much all our other midfielders (on paper at least) and gives is a top class player with most of his career ahead of him.

Not as exciting as Jack Clarke who solves the third-choice right-midfielder issue we have!

Don't be surprised if we wake up and Lyon drop an official "No fee has been agreed for NDombele" announcement tomorrow. They did the same thing to Real Madrid who then signed Mendy a week later anyways. Yeah the bantz from all the doubters clinging to last bits of hope that their club still surprasses us will be unbearable but hang tight.

*Also if this deal falls through I'll be all on board the rage train with you guys.

Mad chuffed at this signing. Solves many issues, including simply providing depth in midfield. But my big question is: Who then becomes our preferred DM pivot?

I'm inclined to go with Sissoko as the hammer, and Ndombele as the guy who gets forward. But maybe Ndombele-Winks is how we'll line up? Thoughts?

We played best when we didn't have a pure/designated DM, imo.

Well, we definitely have options in CM if Ndombele joins. I've seen the arguments re the pivot vs the double pivot, but think it all depends most importantly, on the quality of the defence that the DM is shielding. Other factors play into it, like the tracking back and defensive nous of our AMs.

Fernandinho was critical to City, who obviously didn't have to do too much defending, because his prime role was defending his centre backs where City were weakest.

Even when we had the Sissoko/Winks combo, against better quality of opposition, Sissoko was doing so much defensively, he was forced to do too much, particularly on our right flank, where we were at our weakest.

The whole shape, impetus and threat of the team is changed with a midfield driver like Ndombele. I think either of Sissoko/Winks or even Dier could play the holding role depending on the oppo.

If Eriksen stays, think our priority should be the RB position, above another AM, because that's where good teams have targeted us.
Be great to have both obviously. We also had an outlier with our injury-ravaged season last year, which hopefully won't happen again.
