Oh absolutely mate, and patience is what I've always applied to our dealings. As you said, people have taken the 2 week thing literally & that's kind of what I was getting at. I can see wrists being slashed because of the players we're linked to being otherwise engaged for a fair while yet.

Yeah I know I've seen a few posts where you can tell they're getting agitated that a weeks gone and things aren't perceived as close to being done, It'll be interesting in here within a weeks time. I'd be surprised if any signings are done by June 30th.

Get used to it pal.

Ndombele is on holiday until early July
Lo Celso is at the Copa America until 7th July at the latest
Sessegnon is at the U21 Euros until 30th June at the latest

We won't make a signing for a few weeks at least.

I totally agree with this. It was why the whole 'next two weeks is crucial' thing from Trix may well have been right...but the punch line was unlikely to be people holding the shirt and a press conference.

Hopefully the work is going on behind the scenes to enable a rapid conclusion once respective distractions (holidays, tournaments etc.) are done

I think people took that too literally as in we're going to have players signed within the 14 days, I took it as we will see the traditional news cycle which comes before a transfer accelerate over the 2 weeks which tbf has happened on both Lo Celso and N'Dombele, I think the transfers are in the right trajectory, we need a little patience.
Every. Year.

Yeah as always I agree with you mate. Though I can somewhat understand it this summer because of Poch's multiple statements about wanting things done differently, and people believing (assuming) he means actually getting his targets in time for pre-season training/tour etc.

I too hope we're somehow able to do that.

On the positive side none of our targets have gone elsewhere in the last two weeks.
I have no doubt that a rich club could come in and blow us out of the water but these days they'd need a lot more firepower, I don't believe for one minute we are offering Ndombele £50k a week as with wages we are in a different ball park these days so if a club like City want him they will have to go really high to blow us out of the water.
Don't get me wrong I have no doubt they could afford to do that but as they haven't been courting him so far I doubt he's high enough on their list to go that big.

Yeah I'm not sure when Pre-Season starts but I agree with you that this summer, signings in august isn't going to be good enough for Poch, that's why I chose June 30th because my opinion would be that if we don't have those 3 key signings done within those first 2 weeks of July then by all means I think everybody has the right to be concerned. I'd say that's the sweet spot between fans being patient and Poch not getting what he's pretty much demanded.

Does it matter where the player is? Most of the negotiations will be between the two clubs and the agent. I'm sure the player could still be kept in the loop and a deal could be done subject to medical, etc.

Does anyone actually know when the guys are due back for pre-season? And whether certain players (ie Sanchez) will have a prolonged/delayed break because of international commitments?

Yeah I'm pretty sure we've even done medicals in other countries before, while players have been on international duty?

Not sure I buy the idea that we can't sign any players until they return from holiday / international duty.
I remember during past summers other clubs have signed players whilst they're on holiday.
In Ndombele's case he said he needs time to cogitate so fair enough.
However in, say, Sessegnon's case, it's perfectly possible to agree a fee with Fulham and then get the medical done once he returns from England duty.
Do I genuinely believe we'll sign someone soon? Probably not, but it's not impossible IMO.

Probably not, but the chances of us literally signing them (announcement, holding the shirt, etc) won't be until after the dates i mentioned. Obviously things will be happening behind the scenes, as i'm sure they were last summer too but we will only see the end product. To us, nothing is happening. Thats why i say we wont make a signing until early July.

I'm amazed if anyone thought wed get anyone in before July. I know we are only half way through June but I'd be surprised to see them happen yet. Not to say that they won't of course.

Preseason starts first week of July usually but we don't have our first game until 21 July in Asia so as long as they are on that trip then I don't see the worry.

I think we have a few games at the training ground before we leave, I agree that having them on the tour would be good enough for me but I will start to get a bit of concern should we not have any in over those first 2 weeks, that'd give them a week with the team before heading off on tour.

The guy has publicly said THFC is a big club and who wouldn't be interested.
So he knows we are interested!
He knew we finished 4th and like all football fans, he knew we were in final of CL.
Imo it's just a matter of time...
Obviously we want to get this done before RM or Man Utd or other clubs come in for him... Fingers cross

According to the Read Only Trix posted that on the 10th. So complaining that it's been a week on what? The 14th or 15th? , Take no notice of the opinion or impatience of someone who can't even count up to fucking seven without taking the sock off their left foot.

And that's not mentioning the fact that people as usual take things too literally.
