I am really liking how our rivals are starting to sign what many would consider the ‘Plan B’s’ in our transfer list. Makes me think they have realised they can’t get their Plan A’s because they’re going to Spurs.

Man Utd getting James as they can’t get Sessegnon.

PSG getting Herrera and Allan as they can’t get N’dombele

Optimistic thinking? Or is this the new reality? ?
Bit worrying Europe’s elite are plumping for different options. Wonder where n’d is on their lists. I haven’t seen him play but very mixed reports - is he worth it. Honest question

SC in a nutshell

I know that is always the case, it's easier to see through Tottenham tinted views but I honestly think this has much more to it.

Yes United have stature, they have cash, they will always be ambitious but if the fundamentals aren't right there than that can have an effect on the player. Fabregas, Thiago and others HAVE rejected them, especially when Moyes was in charge........and they'd just won the title.

Why?? Because Moyes wasn't enough of an inspiration for them. Is OGS seen as an inspirational coach? Does he appear to be the guy who can lead them to glory? In comparison Poch is now widely recognised as one of the world's best and had his emotional/inspirational character positively screened all over the football media when we made it to the CL final. That will resonate. Players will want to play for coaches like that. Imagine how Ndombele will feel when Poch has spoken to him?

Secondly, we've beaten United to players before.... Bale, Berbatov, and more. Why? Because the players feel it's an environment they can develop and show case their talents. If we are better than United (we are) can match them for ambition and can give players the opportunity to elevate themselves then it will count for a lot. Don't believe that ALL players are in it for the cash. Was Eriksen?

Our biggest rivals are certainly Juventus, PSG, Barca, City, Liverpool and if you said that it was us or any of them, then sure, my opinion would change. But a player ain't going to choose United just because of stature.

Get what you're saying, but Fabregas said no to stay at Barca and Thiago to go to Bayern, both were and are still way above us.

I still see United as a major rival for signings, for the same reason City were able to get Tevez, Aguero and Silva etc before winning titles.

Money = Viability.

Most players will be convinced by that. Not just for lining their own pockets, but because it's credible, expected in fact, that their resources will eventually build a great team.

I expect his agent will be telling him to hold out for a bigger offer, before saying yes to us. Lyon likewise.

I've watched Ndombele several times over the past 2 seasons and he would be a massive coup for us imo.

He will not come in and instantly be the best midfielder in the land but at 22 years old, he has all of the raw attributes to become an elite midfielder. Remember what Poch said about wishing he had Dembele at a younger age? This is his chance.

Ndombele isn't a DM like Dier, Wanyama etc, he is much more of a B2B CM, although he has shown that he can work very well in tandem with other CMs, so I could see him forming good understandings with Winks, Sissoko, Dier etc.

He is strong, mobile and excellent technically with very quick feet. He presses well and is a decent tackler, reads the game pretty well too. His passing is crisp and he has a decent range but what's really fantastic about his passing is that he is always looking to instigate high tempo passing moves and 1-2s. He is also very good at playing incisive passes through the lines, allowing his team to transition very quickly to break teams down and cut them open. He is excellent at keeping the ball under pressure too and often turns out of that pressure allowing his team to transition.

For me, he needs to work on his decision making (which is normal for young midfielders) and his focus. I get the feeling sometimes he relaxes a bit too much and starts coasting where as in the Premier League he will need to retain 100% focus and intensity at all times.

If we could sign him, I will be truly excited as to what he could become with Poch coaching him. He is the type of player who has all of the talent to literally become whatever he wants to become in CM, if his attitude is right.

Brilliant analysis!

I have to be honest, i havent seen him in live action yet but after everything you have stated it strikes me there may be some similarities to Eriksen. Potential replacement maybe? This has probably been mentioned elsewhere in this thread.

Keep up that type of player analysis mate, really enjoyed the read :)

Definitely not an Eriksen replacement mate, he is more of a deeper B2B CM. Would play alongside one of Winks, Sissoko or Dier if we signed him.

Thanks, appreciate the positive response :)

its not a mater of affording both. you have to be able to convice both players to sit on the bench instead of starting
Most top players will always believe in their talent and their ability to displace others and become a regular starter. Every top player has become such in part, because of their confidence.

I’m trying to think what the first team would be...
Lloris
Trippier Toby Jan Rose
Sissoko N’Dembele
Son Dele Erikson
Kane

Bench would be powerful as well,

Moura, lamella, llorente, winks, Wanyama, dier, Sanchez, ‘Jansen’

There's so much wrong with this I don't know where to begin or where to end. My head just exploded and my body is now just wandering aimless in the desert of nothingness...

Yes, considering he's carried a generally low scoring Atletico side with his goals over the last few years.
But, that’s what Siggi delivered for Swansea. It doesn’t always port to another club. And I liked Siggi a lot. Some players just work perfectly for one particular team at one particular time.

I really hope you work in the club shop, putting the player names on the back of the replica shirts.

Haha I would love to talk to whoever suggested that signing and see what they have to say. I think Nkoudou was even worse.
N’Jie has a place in my heart for the way he threw himself into the post match scrap at the Battle of the Bridge. He’d been benched almost the entire season but his instincts told him Chelsea were utter twunts in need of a slipslap
