Here is Aulas's full quote from GFFN:

On Tanguy Ndombele & an eventual offer from Tottenham:

In terms of the chronology, before accepting the transfer of Ferland Mendy to Madrid, we signed the young international U17 Belgian, Heritier Deyonge, from PSV Eindhoven. What I can say to you is if you see a very good box-to-box midfield youngster arrive, in the coming days, then there will be a chance that Tanguy Ndombele leaves, but for the moment, we have not received offers of the level that we feel is a just price.

Isn’t Diop considered his successor?

I don’t know why, but I really didn’t expect Aulas to look like that.

This really makes it seem closer than the media are making it seem. Aulas playing his game perfectly it seems.

With all the other main suitors signing up midfielders or publicly chasing other targets i do get the feeling that this might be all but done, just agreeing a fee.

Either that or he isnt as good as i think he is and nobody else wants him

Aulas is a smart man. His smartest move is managing to pull off the same trick over and over again.

Team interested - Aulas speaks and whores him around - Deal close to being agreed - Aulas makes one last push, making it sound like the deal is off/never happening - Then suddenly its done, Aulas has made Lyon a shit ton of money.

Lacazette, Lloris, Mendy, Benzema...almost everyone to leave Lyon.

Ive always felt there would be a moment in this process where it seemed like it was falling apart, followed by a swift turnaround.

Of late Lyon produce so many good players , people bang on about Ajax. Both have made a ton of money selling their best players.

That's why I'm not getting sucked into the "that's that then" attitude that a lot of people have everytime there's a bit of information out there, it's following the same news cycle as all the lyon deals, it's following along with the cycle we see when we sign players and no other club has had similar news reported in the same fashion.

You compare it to last year, the only deal that had any proper legs in the media was Grealish, even the Zaha stuff was very loose.

Really good point - the Zaha stuff we had on here ended up being way off. Quite interesting really.

I sort of feel we're well placed on this one, as much as anything else because I genuinely believe he's our primary target
