Match:
FA Cup Quarter-finals

Where:
Liberty Stadium

When:
Saturday March 17th March 2018

Kick Off: 12:15 pm

Form: Swansea DLWWD Spurs WWWLW (All Competitions)

This is the 1st ever FA Cup meeting between us. We have met 45 times previously (40 league games and 5 league cups). We are unbeaten in our last 16 games against the Swans in all competitions (W12 D4), drawing at Wembley and winning 0-2 at the Liberty in the EPL this season.

Swansea's last win over us did come however, in a cup competition, winning 1-0 in a League Cup tie in September 1991. This is Swansea's first appearance in the FA Cup quarter finals since 1964, they reached the semi-final in that year, eliminating Liverpool in the quarter final.

We are aiming to reach the FA Cup semi finals in back to back seasons for the first time since 1981/1982 season., where we won the competition that year. Son has had a hand in 13 goals in his last 10 starts in the FA Cup (Nine goals 1 assist). Tammy Abraham has been involved in the 5 goals in his last 2 FA Cup appearances at the Liberty Stadium (2 goals, 3 assists).

We - having already eliminated Newport County - could become the first team since Southend United in 1975/76 to eliminate two Welsh sides in a single FA cup campaign, when they knocked out Cardiff and Swansea

Early start - why the need ? Crazy.

Hope our lot are in the wide awake club from the off. This is doable.

Camping out early for the meltdown when Poch plays a still strong but not strongest lineup due to international commitments and respect for some of our less featured squad players.

Rubbish weather means football on the sofa with a bacon sarnie. My daughter has started going to little kickers, so is starting to show an interest in football... My aim is to have her saying come on you spurs and Harry Kane by 2pm.

A win for Spurs and no injuries please. Of course, a big win and some truly exhilarating football from the lads would be an added bonus.

Just need to get through, whatever the performance and result. Weather is a great leveller but hopefully Swansea will want to come out and play regardless.

Not confident, just hopeful. I would absolutely love us to win the FA Cup, as a 14yr old 1981 was my first memory of Spurs winning anything and it was unbelievable!

I know what you mean: the memory that resonates with me is the 1991 cup final. Until a couple of seasons ago, I lost interest in the FA cup and maybe I am buying into the 'this squad needs a trophy' narrative but it's an attainable trophy. Whilst we would all love to win the premier league or the CL, we have to be realistic. Also, whilst I am not against progress at all, at the end of the day, what is football if not to win things?

To about 90% of English league clubs, winning anything, even their own league's is a pipe dream that they probably won't ever experience.
Yet they still go to support, week in week out in their droves.
Football is about a hell of a lot more than winning things.

It does include the aspiration of winning trophies.

only to the dreamers...the realists know its not gonna happen.
Maybe I am missing the point. This is the FA cup thread - I already said that this is an attainable trophy - the premier league and champions league are not realistic at the moment but we could realistically win this.

For Tottenham Hotspur, the aspiration of winning the FA Cup more times than zero between 1992-2017 should be more in the realism category than the dreamers category. We've badly underperformed in this competition for more than a quarter of a century: let's hope we sort that out this year and win the fecker.

Oh yeah I agree with that.
It was 81 for me, I was only 3 but when I got to 7-8 years old I got given the vhs of the final and the replay...watched them so much I wore the tape out.
That Ricky Villa goal was probably what sparked my love of Tottenham and football in general really.
