Wondered why no one highlighted Goretska when someone posted that contract running out list a few weeks ago. Could be a very shrewed signing for us, particularly under Poch who offers great ability to coach and improve players.

Also, in reference to that terrible list someone drew up out of our signings and whether or not they were failures or successes I'd add Wimmer to the success column. He deserved to go in there as soon as he flawlessly covered Verts for a month or two last season. If he were to go, we'll make a profit on him as well

I didn't say we can't improve but picking the best signings from a team to show that we should get there scouts is ridiculous.

Yes, I put Bentaleb on the list, we didn't pay a transfer fee for him, he was great for us for 18 months and then we got 16m for him. Some of the Monaco players you listed have only been good for a season.

Why is it ridiculous?? All the players I mentioned where unknown young players (at least to the general public outside france). The ones you mentioned from us where all established players except Dier an Alli. What's exceptional from that list is the low price we paid for those players, not the scouting.
Besides I clearly stated that I mentioned the french scout because we were looking to replace Mitchell. So even if we are doing alright, we may need a new scout

Oh, and we may be doing alright, but they are doing better. CL quarterfinals, and league leaders against star studded PSG. And everything in a smaller time frame from the list you made. So forgive me for wanting to be even better than what we are now. By the way some of you replied it looked like I was asking to bring judas back

Hitchen's supposed to be an expert on the French market, so we've already gone and appointed a French scout anyway.

I saw him on the list before I made that post, but left him out because we'd not previously been linked and that was my angle of interest. Us laying groundwork a year or so before and then making our move.

However, I'm happy to report I did once sign him on Football Manager and he was wonderful!

In real life I know very little about him. Any good?

He's incredibly injury prone on FM, though.

Scouting isn't just about identifying hidden gems, it's about identifying what will suit the club, team and infrastructure. Just because Wanyama, Alderweireld and Eriksen have been great successes for us, doesn't mean they'd have been successes elsewhere. Likewise, Sissoko and Nkoudou were clearly not what we needed, though long term Nkoudou at least still may be, but they might have been tremendous success elsewhere.

I wasn't thrilled at first about zaha or Barkley, and I'm still not sold on Barkley, but I'm starting to really like the idea of zaha. He's pacy strong and athletic all things that our front line is short on atm. Now it looks like he's added an end product to his game, he'd be a great buy.
If not I'd love to go back in for Oliver Burke, who despite having a tough time in Germany, I still believe can become a world class player.

Battle of North London continues as Arsenal go head-to-head with Tottenham for Schalke midfield maestro

The two rivals are preparing for a bidding war for Leon Goretzka who will be out of contract at the end of next season

Arsene Wenger is ready to go head-to-head with Tottenham in the battle to sign Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka.

Goretzka, 22, has turned down a new contract, has 12 months left and Schalke are ready to sell this summer.

That has alerted Arsenal who are looking to strengthen their midfield as they stand to lose Mesut Ozil as well as Alexis Sanchez this summer.

Italian giants Juventus are also watching developments closely as Goretzka’s representatives have begun discussing potential moves.

Arsenal are keen in what could be a cut price deal in a player valued in the £20m bracket having already been capped by Germany.

But Tottenham have also registered an interest while Juventus have the financial clout to try to lure him to Italy.

Goretzka has been in impressive form for the Bungesliga side, racking up six goals in 29 starts, including seven Champions League appearances.

Schalke are currently in ninth place in the domestic table, and they could find it hard to keep hold of Goretzka should they fail to qualify for European competition next season.
I'm still very torn on Goretzka and personally don't think he's the sort of player we should be targeting.

I still don't even know what his best position is and Schalke supporters still argue about it as well.

Maybe Poch could figure his skill set out, but I really have no idea.

Zaha is a really really good player, I noticed that when he came up against Rose, I haven't seen someone cause Rose so many problems like he said and Rose himself said he was the trickiest opponent he came up against. I've always entertained the idea of Zaha coming to us, he's 24, technical, amazing physique, blistering acceleration and speed and mowstly has control of the ball. The only issue I had a year ago is his end product and he has improved that too this year and will improve with time plus playing with our players who have good movement and spacial awareness will only be better. I can see why Poch is a fan.

Tottenham ready to sell flop Vincent Janssen — before they've even finished paying his transfer fee
The Netherlands striker signed last July in a £20m deal is yet to score from open play in the Premier League

Tottenham will cut their losses and sell Vincent Janssen this summer.

Dutch striker Janssen admitted his frustration this week after struggling to adapt to English football.

The 22-year-old has managed just one goal from open play since a £20million move from AZ Alkmaar in his homeland last summer.

As Tottenham have yet to pay all the instalments on the deal, Janssen could return to Holland in a transfer that would see them taking only a relatively small financial hit.

The Holland international was brought in to provide competition for and back-up to Harry Kane, but has struggled to fit into the Londoners' system.

Even with Kane injured, manager Mauricio Pochettino has often used attacking midfielder Heung-min Son up front instead, and Janssen’s poor goal record — four of his five have been penalties, and he's still yet to score from open play in the Premier League — will see him offloaded this summer.

Pochettino will be keen to use the cash to strengthen his squad, as last year’s deals had mixed results — £30m Moussa Sissoko is another heading for the White Hart Lane exit, but fellow midfielder Victor Wanyama has been a huge success.

The Tottenham boss wants to strengthen his attacking options and believes that will be key for next season.

Selling Janssen would help free up some cash and his stock remains relatively high back in his own country.

Janssen admitted he was “not satisfied” with his season overall — another clear signal that he will go.

Its funny how all the players Ive recommended on here have turned out to be stars, Dembele, Brandt, Tielemans etc I know my players extremely well.

It's funny how you only recommend the worlds highest rated young players. How about unearthing some unknown gems for us.
