That's not what I mean. I didn't say people slagged Nkoudou, just that nobody cares about him and they already count him out, whereas Janssen is in a similar situation and they insist with him in a way they don't with Nkoudou.
My guess would be that because we need a striker, but imo we also need someone like Nkoudou that can break lines with skill and pace
I think it has a lot to do with expectations. N'Koudou felt like just another N'Jie to many, me included, while Janssen was the Eredivisie top scorer, and a Holland international. Just like Soldado, people want him to succeed because he has performed in the past, and they want him to reach that level again. With N'Koudou you don't really know what you're gonna get.

I saw a couple of articles re our scouting team situation after Mitchell's gone.
We could take a look at whoever is responsible at Monaco. I don't know if most of you know it, but even though they are all young and appear to be homegrown, almost all of them were bought.
Lemar from Caen
Martial from Lyon
Bernardo Silva from Benfica
Bakayoko from Rennes
Mendy from OM
Sidibe from Metz
Fabinho from Rio Ave

The only homegrown player is Mbappe

I find Son incredibly frustrating at times, but I still think he's been a massive success for us. He may not be of the same level as our best XI, but he's as good as a backup player could possibly be. And that's an incredibly important thing to have in the squad.

I agree, wouldn't say he's a guaranteed starter, but he has scored 22 goals for us from 76 appearances, many of those as a sub. While not setting the World on fire, he has certainly been very useful for us and got as some important goals. Having a backup player who can get you goals is not something most premier league clubs can boast.

The problem is that people like Mendes have their fingerprints all over Monaco - who are being reinvented as a French Porto, a holding area for talent to be showcased which will be sold for big bucks.

Levy stays away from the likes of Mendes and Raiola because he knows they will move on any player who shines here quickly...

I'm not saying we should get monaco's players but their scout(s). As I showed with that list, Monaco is getting the best young players from their league.
Besides from the few I looked up from that list I made, none of them have Mendes or Raiola as agents

But my point is why are they getting them? Because a lot of super-agents have signed up these players, and want Monaco as a shop window. We usually are very specific on the type of player we go after these days, and it's no coincidence that our squad is settled and happy to sign new contracts.

The contract situation is a two way thing and while the players sign them and seem happy to do so, the club also have a vested interest in them signing extensions to their deals.
This means they get maximum dollar if and when they are sold and let's not kid ourselves if Madrid came in for alli with the right kind of money, he in all likelihood would be off.
Our business model is similar to Porto and Monaco in that we spot emerging talent, develop and give it a go, and then when the time is right they are sold for a big fee which is great business on levys behalf.

They are getting them because Monaco has a tax advantage over the rest of the french teams, and because they have good scouts.
Those players got signed for very small figures, not because of super agents. I already told you the ones I've searched had nothing to do with Mendes or Raiola.
And I have no idea what our squad and their contracts has to do with getting a french scout

In roughly the same time frame, We've signed the below players for just 1.5m more than Monaco spent on their players you listed, so I think we are doing alright.

Bentaleb
Verts
Dier
Alli
Eriksen
Wanyama
Lloris

Battle of North London continues as Arsenal go head-to-head with Tottenham for Schalke midfield maestro

The two rivals are preparing for a bidding war for Leon Goretzka who will be out of contract at the end of next season

Arsene Wenger is ready to go head-to-head with Tottenham in the battle to sign Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka.

Goretzka, 22, has turned down a new contract, has 12 months left and Schalke are ready to sell this summer.

That has alerted Arsenal who are looking to strengthen their midfield as they stand to lose Mesut Ozil as well as Alexis Sanchez this summer.

Italian giants Juventus are also watching developments closely as Goretzka’s representatives have begun discussing potential moves.

Arsenal are keen in what could be a cut price deal in a player valued in the £20m bracket having already been capped by Germany.

But Tottenham have also registered an interest while Juventus have the financial clout to try to lure him to Italy.

Goretzka has been in impressive form for the Bungesliga side, racking up six goals in 29 starts, including seven Champions League appearances.

Schalke are currently in ninth place in the domestic table, and they could find it hard to keep hold of Goretzka should they fail to qualify for European competition next season.

Tottenham prepared to sell £30million flop Moussa Sissoko after just one season

Sissoko moved to Spurs on Deadline Day last August but has failed to impress boss Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham are willing to listen to offers for £30million midfielder Moussa Sissoko after just one season.

The 27-year-old, signed on Deadline Day last August, has failed to impress Mauricio Pochettino and the Argentine is prepared to let him leave this summer.

I didn't say we can't improve but picking the best signings from a team to show that we should get there scouts is ridiculous.

Yes, I put Bentaleb on the list, we didn't pay a transfer fee for him, he was great for us for 18 months and then we got 16m for him. Some of the Monaco players you listed have only been good for a season.

Agree, when it comes to transfers you need to look at the bigger picture. With a zero net spend and 6th biggest wage bill we have gone from mid table to hopefully finishing in the top 3 for a second season in a row.
