Not Barkleys biggest fan, he more often than not has a brain fart when it comes to decision making in the final 3rd... however he would contribute more to our season than Sissoko, so in that sense it would make us stronger than we are today.

£20 isn't bad money if you consider that Someone like Bolasie cost Everton £28m, hopefully Poch will also continue to prove his ability at improving young players who buy into his philosophy.
Where are you getting £20m from? The latest reports say they want £50m.

If it's true Barkley's been offered 100k pw by Everton he'll want similar to come here, how can we justify that when many on the players who did so well this year are on less?
Give them a raise?? We can't let the wage gap grow too wide anyway...

I've not heard the £20M figure but he's in the last year of his contract, there is no way on earth anyone would pay £50M for Ross Barkley with a year left in his contract, I think they are just playing silly buggers.

If he is absolutely refusing to sign a new contract they have two options, a) let him go on a free next season or b) sell to the highest bidder this summer.

I would like to sign him and i think Poch would do wonders with him, but I don't think he is good enough for anyone to lose their head and pay over the odds for him. Most probably he will make up with Everton and sign a new contract with them, if he doesn't I reckon £20M-£30M to another Premiership club. Without being a homegrown player he is probably not worth over £15M to a club in another league.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen to improve Tottenham’s squad after a patchy summer transfer window last year.

Spurs are likely to lose at least one first-team player, with Kyle Walker aware he can double his £70,000-a-week salary if he joins Manchester City. Pochettino is seeking at least one more full-back, a centre-back, an attacking midfielder and a forward.

This is how its been for a while now. Chelsea are the worst culprits, the number of players they sign and then loan out or sell to teams that aren't 'rivals' is embarrassing. All to keep these players out of the hands of anyone who appears to be a threat.

On the plus side, if City aren't willing to sell to us, Levy is hardly going to sell to them. If Walker goes, it'll be to Germany or Spain IMO.

Especially as there's a rumour Bayern Munich like the look of him. If their interest is genuine then it's perfect for us as we can say to him it's them or nobody. A bit like with Modric and Real Madrid.

It's reporting the Mirror article saying that we could bid £20m, that doesn't mean they would accept it.

Yep true but I doubt we will find any direct quotes from Everton saying that they would accept 20m

Whatever fee is agreed for Barkley should he be transferred will undoubtedly be 'undisclosed' leaving plenty of ambiguity over the fee.

Certainly won't be bloody £50million!

My guess is that he'll renew at Everton. Could be wrong but IMO he's not yet good enough to play regularly at the top 6 sides and Everton will probably push the boat out to keep 'one of their own'. Everton are now being backed by very wealthy and ambitious owners, so it's a good place to be for a 23 year old. The only question mark is whether Koeman actually rates him. If does, he's got a strange of showing it in terms of his comments to the media.

If he does go, Everton will be relying on clubs like City failing to meet their home grown quota and needing him like they did with Delph. Otherwise, I am sure most interested clubs will wait until the deadline and see Everton's price tumble.

There isn't much downside to signing Ross, as long as his wages aren't too high.

The moment he signs for his next team his value increases a lot.

If Poch gets him to buy into our philosophy, then we got ourselves a bargain.

If he doesn't, we sell him for a profit in 12 months.
