I don't get this as a persistent favourite moan in SC. When we're winning more people are going to be focussed on watching the match and will be too busy enjoying what they're seeing on the pitch to take time out to post on here.

When we're losing people are going to be less inclined to be glued to their screen and watch us play badly; and therefore they'll take more time out to post in the match thread.

I don't see why that should be criticised.
Thing is being critical of today's performance, the actual performance, that's fine.

The utter guff that has been written since around the final whistle and just prior? Nah, that's as plastic as it gets.

All those players have played as much or more as the other "tired" players you suggest replacing.

Seriously KWP, Skipp and injury prone Rose who played three days ago. That's who you think is game turning options? Two kids and a tired left back?

I'll say again Lamela, Dier, Dembele and Dier ALL missing through injury is, actually, a reasonable excuse. To suggest otherwise is just petulant whining.

Rose and KWP could’ve played at least 30-25 minutes, Skipp could’ve give us more bodies in midfield

Okay if you don’t think Rose can play then when we were 2-1 down take a risk and get Nkoudou on for Davies

Again I’m tired of excuses

We don't have a weak mentality. Pre Poch i'd totally agree but these lads are tougher now and they won't give in.

We're just lacking that bit of extra quality and squad depth to take us to the next level.

I’d say we’re not weak mentally. I’d say we’re simply not strong enough mentally.

You’re correct about the quality, we aren’t good enough. We have 6/7 players who are good enough to challenge for major honours consistently. We need another 2/3

Agreed on the players. We need a midfield player and another forward and that's without taking into account Toby and Eriksen replacements.

We'd always had a better defence and keeper than Liverpool but now we've lost that edge over them and this is why we are now behind. They have a much better midfield than us and they probably edge us on forward options too.

Do you perhaps think he's also got a slight advantage in Wage and transfer spending? Or does this not matter at all?

FWIW I think he's a great coach too. But you're being massively disrespectful to Pochettino imo.

I’m not intending to disrespect Poch at all. I love him and can’t stand Klopp.

Poch might not work well with big money, he’s never had the chance to prove it. His obsession with hardworking, beastly type players suggests he might not flourish with a huge budget. Then again he might do brilliantly with big money.

With Klopp we know what we’d get. The added bonus would be that we’d need to match his ambition in order to attract him in the first place of course, so a guarantee of some sort of spending.

Once people take a breath they should realize that even in the first half, after the goal, the energy levels dropped and kept dropping. Winks and Sissoko have played so well in this run but just seemed to be running on fumes.
Shame that we didn't have Lamela, Dier, Wanyama, Dembele to come in and give us some energy.
Was a bit disappointed that Moura didn't show energy when he came on.

Bad day. Get some rest and let's go again.
Not a bad day. We KNEW for a FACT that all four of those players were unfit, injury prone, and needed replacement for between six months and three years now. We chose to push them to the limit instead. We reap the consequences. We are Britain's sixth best team. Poch has us at third or fourth and deserves immense credit on the whole for that. If we want to be more, it needs structural change. This isn't an anomaly. This is where we are.

No problem with criticising knee-jerk posting, but I wasn't making that argument. I was responding to you saying about the match thread being dead when we win and busy when we lose. It's one of A&C's favourite gripes and I don't get why anyone is surprised by it.

I'm baffled by people being mad at Pochettino for not making any changes. Who was he supposed to introduce? Nkudou?

Fuck me Liverpool going 9 points clear of us and are going to win the league.
But that was the case before we blew up today spurs were never going to win the league, all the team have done was try to delay the inevitable that either Liverpool or city would win the league nothing has changed that plus look at their investment they have backed their managers and not asked him to compete with his hands tied.

I wonder if it was a Poch or Club decision to sign Jansen and Llorente. Reported fees for both a combined £32m and Jansen doesn't even have a squad place and Llorente can't get a game. Ridiculous situation to be in esp with the amount of games Kane is currently playing.

If you have nothing positive to add when we're doing well, why the fuck turn up when it's not as rosey? It's one fucking result, thick and thin or not at all.

Trippier and Davies are Burnley level players. Massive weak links for us. Lloris also massively overrated.
I agree about the full backs but I think Lloris has saved us plenty this season. He might be less consistent this season. But the goals today came from our useless midfield.

You're not tired of "excuses" - you are feeling bad and lashing out petulantly. We lost the game in midfield. That could not be clearer to anyone who knows anything about football. We simply had no quality midfielders to bring on. We had to win the game with our front four in the first half and didn't.

This is not to say there aren't questions that need to be asked - like why Llorente was left out when he's a proven gamechanger because he changes everything about our game style. But slaggin off the manager and the players when we don't have our four first choice midfielders is just not very good support really.
