Liverpool spent hundreds of millions.

When are people going to realise spending lots of money with a competent manager almost guarantees success.

We have no money so top 4 is best we can hope for.
We have got money: spending it is our problem.

Whoopee doo!! Didn't realise there was a trophy for finishing above the scum!

We're not quite good enough to win the league this year. Liverpool and City have raised the bar, and we missed our chance in 2015/16 and 2016/17 when the standards weren't so high.

We can't compete against Liverpool's £300m spend in the last 2 seasons and City's money unless we buy some quality too. Everyone in the top 5 has a good manager so then it's down to who has the best players and the best luck with injuries. Without having the injury luck, our squad is still a little short. In fact even if everyone were fit and firing, we'd arguably still be short of title winning quality in central midfield.

Peeved at the result and more so that we've now potentially given Chelsea and Goons an opportunity to close the gap to 2 and 4 points respectively if they win their match. Can't see Goons winning against Pool though.

Haven’t read every post here but with all the talk of Pool potentially going 9points above.

Have we missed the other key fact that we could have been 10 points above 5th?

Once people take a breath they should realize that even in the first half, after the goal, the energy levels dropped and kept dropping. Winks and Sissoko have played so well in this run but just seemed to be running on fumes.
Shame that we didn't have Lamela, Dier, Wanyama, Dembele to come in and give us some energy.
Was a bit disappointed that Moura didn't show energy when he came on.

Bad day. Get some rest and let's go again.

That's the hard part

Eriksen has been absolutely horrid.

Trippier and Davies need to be sold in summer, never winnning anything with them as options
Winks as well, since Poch compared him to Ineista( pardon my spelling ) he has been holding on to ball a lot, running with it a lot, he is no Ineista, period.

Some of you are really emotionally unhinged. Shit loss hoping we can get fit and firing for Cardiff.

With any luck, trippier will be sold from under Poch this month. Poch simply cant be given the option to play him at this point. He’s a complete liability.
I'd like to think Levy would approach Poch and say to him that if he sells Trippier he can sign another CM.

It frustrates me when ppl say KWP isnt ready yet and makes defensive mistakes, well Trippier is experienced and makes them every week. His passing is poor, crossing is overrated and he's generally out of position. KWP might make some mistakes but he'll learn, he'll get better and he sure as hell gets up and down quicker.

Trippier is the weak link (CM is an issue but we know more bodies will improve that) and it's time he was put to the back of the queue.

Aurier and KWP to alternate once Serge returns.

Lost in all this is the fact that we still haven't played any home matches for a season and a half now. This match goes differently if it was played at the lane. Wembley is awful and we can't get out of there soon enough.

Thought Skipp was a certainty for rotation against Bournemouth to give Winks/Sissoko a break. Small point but we must look at opportunities like that
You got to remember Skipp is a baby?.. If Amos and tash booth where fit he'd be behind them even. That's the whole score with midfield injuries.

Never mind lads, we were due a poor performance after the last month of top drawer football.

Dis is football.

Have a beer and enjoy being off work. We go again at Cardiff.

Weird take.

Liverpool spending hundreds of millions is not an excuse for shoddy capitulation against a dodgy-at-best Wolves side.

Funny how Man City have lost a couple to 'lower' teams, with all the quiadrillions and the squad they have, yet somehow we feel we shouldn't be, with a restricted budget and tired players.

All things considered we're still doing amazingly well.

Absolutely. I don't actually feel down about this result, we've done much better than I would have expected in particular with a central midfield pairing of Sissoko and Winks. Plus I didn't buy into the title talk as much as others, I knew that all it took was one display like this for that to dissipate, which I think has a heightened chance of happening when at Wembley.

If anything, it just puts things into perspective.

By the way, Sanchez looks absolutely terrified every time he has the ball at his feet. We shouldn't be asking him to be the one to play out from the back as he's absolutely useless at it.

Never thought Sissoko & Winks as a combination was strong enough & we've rather been getting away with it in previous games.

Didn't see the game, but when it was obvious in the 2nd half that we were being overrun, surely we would have been better to revert to 3 at the back & WBacks by bringing on Rose using Foyth or Davies as a 3rd CB?

Good way to support your manager - that kind of behaviour would definitely convince Poch to stay at Spurs
