Good result and a tad harsh on the Saints based on the balance of play, even if some will argue we played to conserve energy so on that basis I can't begrudge Southampton scoring that goal at the end as they had plenty of chances and could have had more, I felt we went into cruise control mode after going 3 up and it clearly looked as though we had one eye on the weekend and beyond for the last 30 mins of the game.

In the context of the other games, Utd did us a favour with that draw and the Wolves result was a real bonus, I know much has been said about us conserving energy but we really need to go all out to get the 3 points against Leicester and I hope we have enough in the tank left to do it because there is a very real opportunity of gaining a 4-5 point gap on Chelsea in the offing with them playing City, the ball is in our court and we must take our chance. We will need to improve significantly on our last 30 minutes of this game and the last 30 mins of last Sunday's game because whilst it will be great if we manage it I will be surprised to say the least to see us having a 3 goal cushion after 60 minutes away at Leiceter.

I would take a draw at Leicester. We need to score 3 goals to win a game at the moment.

Not best of games but good to bounce back. Played the 2nd half in 2nd or 3rd gear, only real grumble is in games like this when we are 3.0 up after 60 odd mins I have no idea why Potch doesn’t take Kane off and give him a rest for 25 mins.

The fact that arsenal celebrated that win so hard shows how far they've fallen, and we've come up really .

Back in the day they really wouldn't care as much. Soon they'll start selling victory t shirts like West ham

Spent the evening with my eldest two watching them play Red Dead 2. Checked the phone for updates and results. Chavs lost and Utd and Arsenal dropped points. Our two speedster forwards scored and Foyth got more minutes. I realise I haven’t watched the game but why the fuck are some people moaning?

That's not a great way to look at it. We've lots of injuries and we obviously decided to take our foot off the gas. Yes we should of controlled the game better but the aim was to conserve energy.

We've an absolute ridiculous schedule to negotiate.

I know, and I guess you are right. I just feel that you do less running when you keep the ball. Southampton ran us around last 30 mins. Plus, it was a good chance to improve our goal difference. Not surprised there were only ~30k people there as we are going through the motions most games.

Fucking incredible aren't they. "But we're allowed to criticise".

Don't like it when others criticise their criticism. Suddenly they're all up in fucking arms. Bashing away at the neg reps...

Snowflakes :p
Don’t know why you’ve negged this @Kosher Kid I have no problem with your assessment of the game. I fact I agree with it.

The point is you can criticise without calling he club and players and effort “pathetic” or a “joke”.

Language matters

Shame we can’t polish off these wins with a clean sheet given how at one point with Verts and Toby as our pairing season before last we were pretty tight at the back,

Could you pop round tomorrow afternoon and have a chat with my wayward plumber who claims I owe him monies for a blocked toilet he never successfully fixed?

Because they're superior to us mere mortals, their highlighting of shortcomings makes them football purists. How dare we celebrate a victory when Trippier was the wrong side of his man or Hugo didn't deliver a 70 yard pass with pinpoint accuracy. Actually come to think of it, anybody that even smiled during any of our goals or the final whistle are nothing but football peasants, scum who dont have the intellectual capability to pick holes in every single performance.

Not sure what I just watched.

We won but we were so placid again. I think this game highlighted the need for better fullbacks and central midfield.

Plus Eriksen was woeful and looked like he couldn’t be arsed. At least the other attackers looked lively.

I thought Alderweireld had a good game and Kane looked lovely when he got the ball, so did Son.

Atmosphere in the stadium was woeful but the guy sitting next to me won £2,000 betting on every team to score a goal in the midweek premier league matches so that made things interesting. He was pretty happy when they scored.

We took our foot off the gas to save ourselves and then allowed them chances. Foyth played well.

I get taking your foot off the gas to conserve energy, but not if it results in getting run ragged by relegation fodder. I can’t imagine Poch was too impressed with what he saw from 55 minutes on.
