I was watching the clip from the UEFA Cup Final in the 'On this Day' thread (for which many thanks, @TheChosenOne) and I'd forgotten how the Spurs crowd reacted when Danny Thomas missed the penalty that would have won us the game. They didn't shout 'FFS, Danny', or 'get rid' or 'I told you he was shit'. Rather, they spontaneously burst into a rendition of 'There's only one Danny Thomas' in support of a player at the lowest ebb in his career.

I know it's asking a bit much of the Match Thread, but these players have come through a ridiculous number of injuries and setbacks to drag this team to potentially its greatest ever triumph. In many ways, one could argue they shouldn't be there. But they are there and, in many other ways, they absolutely deserve it for their bravery, their mentality, their never-say-die attitude in this competition.

So, if at all possible, it would be great to have a little more of the 'Ohttps://twitter.com/footballjoe/status/1133843521717325826?s=21' attitude in this thread and a little less of the 'Oh, fuck off, Trippier' approach. Asking a bit much, I know, but, hey, worth a try.

Oh, and if you haven't seen the 'On this Day' thread of which I speak, enjoy...

F.Fwd 35 years and a few days on from that night I still got the goosebumps when I rewatched it !

No matter what happens on Saturday evening (though we're winning) let's not turn on eachother in here.

This season has provided moments & memories that are extremely unlikely to be repeated in our lifetime. Be grateful for what we've had & enjoy the occasion.

COYS
I agree with the sentiment, but people very rarely turn on each other in match threads.
They turn on the team, the manager, and Levy.

Some people just aren't very good at handling disappointment, god knows why...we've had enough practise. I fully expect the usual digs of 'b.ottlers' and 'spursy' to come out if we don't win, which is utterly ridiculous when you consider everything.

Ill be in here before, and the day after, but I won't be anywhere near it during the match.

My god. I can barely contain myself. The odds are stacked against us. But they have been all year. It’s been the most crazy footballing year I can remember as a spurs fan. We’ve been on the brink of going out of this competition so many times. And only truly secured passage into next seasons on the final weekend. On a personal note it has been a really shitty year. Lost my job. Marriage ended and other equally shitty things. But this seems to be the payback for all the heartache and pain suffered. It feels written they we will do something incredible. And all the shit that had gone on will he forgotten. Come on you spurs. #believe

Agreed. I'll be at the screening so thankfully will miss this thread during the match. Fully expect the following:

FFS Trippier
Kane looks unfit
FFS Trippier
Eriksen why can’t you beat the 1st man /our corners are shit
FFS Trippier
Salah you diving c**t
FFS Trippier
This squad needs major surgery in the summer
FFS Trippier

…and that’s just inside the first 10 minutes of the game ?

But in all seriousness, enjoy the ride everyone.

There's a long longtime mate of mine who topped up in Madrid last night with his match ticket held tightly, deservedly so he has been going to match home and away since the early 1970's ! He must have seen way over a thousand live games in that time. Anyway soon after the 1984 final his son was born and was christened Thomas, I chuckled and told him he was named after our one Danny Thomas.

I'm sure that with a win there will be some glory names being appropriated and rightly so.

Can't believe that I'm actually seeing a thread that involves spurs in a CL final it's got me buzzing and as a boy always wanted to see us win a European cup and here we are.
I will be at the screening Saturday so can't wait and as poch said we have to start acting like a big club, which involves everyone from player's to fan's to actually believe we can win this and I think we will.
Imagine Saturday night " Tottenham are champions of Europe " how good does that sound and seeing it done whilst being in the new stadium, what a way to usher in a new era for the club and laughing at arsenal and west ham fan's along the way.

The TV build up here in Ireland starts at 18.00 on Virgin Media which is great but the match will be just about one minute behind 'real time' so I will be totally offline for the duration .. I get various news alerts from news
agencies, during the last minute of the Ajax victory I was as low as I had ever been but RTE flashed up that
"Tottenham Hotspur" had reached the final etc etc while I was still in match mode. I thought it was a cruel
trick and could not compute. The bestest WTF spoiler I ever received.

To conclude, I'll be a minute behind but come the final whistle, win or lose I will be back. Proud of the lads.
Win or lose.

I can't believe that I'm going to miss the most important game of our recent history and certainly the biggest game of lives as Spurs fans. Little did I know that a year ago, booking a wedding (a wedding photographer) would mean me missing the most important game ever. I think we can pull this one off. Something is telling me that this season was meant to be for us. The injuries, the stadium fiasco, the lack of spending - everything we did brought us to where we are now. Matchday I won't be able to get on here - let's hope Saturday night when I eventually get home (long after the final whistle) that we are basking in the glory of being called Champions of Europe! COYS!!
I'm sorry but I would have to give that to another photographer!

A lot of these guys have been preparing for this moment not for three weeks, but more likely five + years. Hard work, dreams and ups and downs all culminate in this one chance to land their individual careers in the most prominent of history. I hope our lads win on pure yearning and desire.

Feel sick just thinking about this. It's weird, I should enjoy the game but I just don't think I can. We are so close to making history and all these years of hard work could be rewarded with the biggest prize in club football.

I can't concentrate on anything now, I was coping fine up until last night, then it hit me, we are in the CL final. FINAL. COYS

I'm going crazy. After everything I do I'm thinking: shit, why I open this door with left hand? What if we lose because of that? And I probably watched every youtube video about this game.

My liv supporting mates have been going at Kane for how he looks which makes me feel very confident, you know people are shitting a brick when they resort to talking shit about things which have no impact on the football. Reminds me of our fans calling Burnley Brexit footballers at half time, I knew the loss was coming when I saw that shit.
