Sounsess 'Son's got a bit of a track record of looking for it inside the box'

I mean what the actual fuck, why do these other fucking presenters not calling him out on that shit, ask him to mention 1 or 2 other times he's went 'looking for it'

Doesn't every single footballer alive 'look for it'? Especially when a leg is dangled like Maguire did.

Can't stand the sourpuss. He's like Lawro nowadays. Anyone hear what he was saying about Winks pre-game? Absolute nonsense.

No, because I often hear these 'pundits' say they could have gone down there and did well to stay on his feet etc.

Now maybe you could actually answer what I wrote ?

What was he saying, I really don't understand what people are expecting from Winks in order for them to see he's a quality player.

Exactly. Add the fact that he's facing away from goal, so a penalty is by far the best outcome there for Son so why shouldn't he go down if he feels contact.

It's given as a free-kick on every other blade of grass on the pitch which isn't inside the box. Oliver bottled it because he's a fucking shitbag.

Basically he said Winks doesn't offer enough and went on to imply that at his age he was better.

Not necessarily a bad thing. If Winks goes on to win half the honours with us that Souness won with Liverpool I'll be a very happy man.

Oh sure, there's always room for improvement - no problem with that. But it was the way Souness said it. He sounded like a grumpy, bitter old man whinging for the sake of it. Redknapp and Carragher sitting next to him looked bewildered (although in Carragher's case, that's quite normal).

What did we learn from this game? We need to get a better right back. Trippier is not even playing defense anymore. Its wide open behind him, look at the chances they created because of that.

Also Oliver is a nob.

Chill, man! I wasn't attacking you! It was in reference to Souness saying Son is known for 'going down easy' I was simply commenting that EVERY player 'looks for' the penalty in that situation which makes Souness' comment redundant.

Let’s be honest. Ex-Pool mafia have way too much say in tv punditry. I used to like Hansen (he was insightful and funny, if not always intentionally!). Even Lawro was okay until his face fell in. Carragher is a cliche scouser and totally biased but a good foil for Gary Neville. He can spit sense and I quite like him. Whereas McManaman is simply a very weak in-game sidekick.

But Sourness is in a league of his own of the major PL pundits. Sour, dated, biased and actually says the obvious without giving the fan any new insight. He was an effective but dirty shit player. He was a worse manager. Used to be a joke I liked:

How do you create a crap football team ?
Take a good one and give it to Souness to manage it.

Sooner he’s retired the better.

Souness didn't really say anything negative about Winks. His point was more about midfielders in general compared to when he played. But people will hear what they want to.

My apologies. Sometimes I pick it up wrong.

Just watched it again and Lloris only actually made 2 decent saves. The penalty and the Barnes chance. Everything else was wide or pretty much a standard save.

Hmmm.

Considering the actual nature of this thread, isn't it the "standard save" (that those who constantly say Lloris is guilty of making blunders with) are wanting him to make?

Making good saves & standard saves. Surely this is a good thing?

Our goal vs Newcastle should have been a standard save. What do you want him to do? Not save any? From memory he didn't push any out notably back into the danger area and held on to the ball when needed. Standard, or not, saves are saves at the end of the day.
