Seeing as this match can no longer be played on 17 March, surely it makes sense to bring it forward to the 13th or even 12th given that neither us nor palace will have midweek fixtures that week and there’s an international break afterwards. They brought forward City’s match that clashed with the league cup final after all.

Otherwise they’ll have to shoehorn the match into the busiest part of the season.

This is way too sensible I’m sure but makes absolute sense in my opinion anyway.

it would depend on whether Palace want to accept playing 4 days after a league match and also depends on when their FA Cup QF is against Watford (which is a massive game for them).

both teams have to agree to the switch and Palace might see it as an advantage to play us when we are totally under the cosh with fixtures.

with them playing Watford away which definitely won't be an essay fixture, and Brighton playing Millwall, at the moment Brighton would be the favourites to reach the Semi's, meaning we won't be playing on the 6th April either, so if we put our case forward to the PL that the 12th would make sense they might force Palace's hand. the 2 downsides being that

1, rumour has it they won't allow us to play our 1st fixture at the new stadium midweek

2, the other rumour is if we don't play at least 5 PL in the new stadium we will be forced to play all at Wembley. if that is true I can see Levy insisting on us playing a lot later which will backfire if we do manage to get into the CL QF and get a good draw

edit: in fact looking at the CL dates the PL might need to insist on those dates, in case we do progress. we should make the QF's which would only leave the midweek between 20th and 27th April to play Palace or Brighton. if we where to reach the SF's CL and we had arranged Palace for the 22nd/23rd and Brighton reach the Semi's of the FA Cup, there won't be space to play them before the final weekend. Man City are in the same boat, at the moment needing to re arrange v Man U, and more likely Cardiff.

looking like this could play into Liverpool's hands as they are not effected with needing to re arrange any fixtures:mad:

The CL fixtures on the 12th and 13th are a stumbling block even if we don't feature in them. UEFA only allows top league domestic fixtures to clash with CL games in exceptional circumstances, i.e. when there is literally no other option.

I wonder how tickets will be sold to members for the opening league game and City CL QF?

Last season at WHL it was a random ballot application, before it was first come first served on the on sale date, or will loyalty points be used? Probably be announced tomorrow but what do people expect?

Asked the same in the stadium thread and was told it would be on a first come first served doughnut of death basis. I’m hoping The first game will be different and be on a loyalty point like the last game at WHL, there’s plenty of time to organise it and would be the fairest way in my opinion.

It would only be fair if they said they would do that from the outset
