I cannot think of any young German who arrived young and became a star in the Premier League. Lets hope Timo becomes the first.

We've been linked with him since the start of the window, why wait a week before the United game to open talks?

Just to wind you up! ;)

OR waiting for confirmation of departures to free up space/funds?

Don't worry, he will be a star....

naturally, if he signs for anyone else I fully expect him to be steaming pile of excrement.

I thought someone would say that but what if we had not got rid of half those players? We'd still be waiting to make a move? In that time someone could have got there ahead of us.
Poch said we need to make early decisions. Not late ones.

But surely being linked with a player is a long way from opening talks.
If we negotiated to buy every player we were linked with we would need our own ferry to get them over here.

The fact that we've opened talks with a player that we've been linked with means that there was some smoke before the fire.

How do u know the earlier 'smoke' wasn't just to let him and his agent know of our interest?

Seriously not trying to nitpick but have we opened talks with the player?

Seems like he's highly rated but he's still developing. This would be a brave signing, a kid, much like Lamela when he arrived, who's never played in England as the main back up to Kane. He could become the best striker in Europe in a few years but if Soldado and Ade leave then there won't be much support for Harry. I'd sooner get Berahino.

There won't be much support for Harry if Soldado or Ade stayed! and the stories I've been reading recently is that Ade is staying as Timmy is now going for Berbatov.
