Large pinch of salt required but I'd be quite happy if we could get him. We don't have many with his long range ability and that always forces defenders to come out instead of sitting back which opens things up. Packed defenses have been a big problem for us and I reckon Malcom brings a skill set which might well help us. Wait and see.

Why not buy a winger from the French league - interesting new strategy.

Guessing DL has a discounted Eurostar rate.
He can get that out to France, then a bus to wherever he needs to go, then come back with a discounted player.
But yeah - we're gonna break the bank this season!

Needs to get it done before school holidays though.

I actually think it's a decent strategy. The french league while obviously not the same quality is quite similar to the prem. They also blood youngsters much earlier so you get a decent look at them playing competitive football.

Has it worked for us so far ?

What do you mean?

Nkoudou, Njie , Moura . 3 wingers from French teams. 2 failures and 1 too early to say. I will also add Stambouli, Aurier and Capoue as not great signings in the last 3 or 4 years. And if Moura is our solution as a wide midfielder / winger why would we need to sign yet another one from France ?

Do you not think it's a bit silly to just write off an entire league just because we signed a few players that didn't make it? We have signed loads of english players that didn't make it as well.

That Mbappe lad and his mates seem to be doing ok at a certain tournament happening at the moment.

We have also signed many great players from the English leagues but I can only think of Lloris from France . One out of seven is not good. Of course signing Mbappe would be good but what do you think our chance are ?

It just means we signed the wrong players not that nobody from that league is any good? Should we be not be trying to sign martial either?

Martial plays in the EPL . I guess he has played 100 times for them since signing for United. But let’s be honest the reason we like signing players from Ligue 1 is because usually they are cheap.

Surely that is the reason we don't have a high hit rate from france rather than the quality of the players in the league? They are gambles based on our previous spending model.

Would seem an odd signing to me having already signed Moura.
