Tottenham are finally ready to break their transfer duck with a cut-price move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
But the deal will only happen if the French champions can get a replacement — with Everton’s Idrissa Gana Gueye a top target.

Levy pay 20m for a player who would be free come summer? Chinney chin chin

When he is free he will command mega wages like Ramsey. We can't afford "free" players anymore ironically, best bet is snapping them up before.

Can't imagine Rabiot would fancy this though unless his pre contract discussions with the mega clubs has proven fruitless.

Maybe he's been taken down a peg or two which would probably be a good thing. Poch has wanted him for ages and like you say, he'll command huge wages and signing on fee if he goes for free and PSG will need money to help their FFP situation. I just hope Poch can sort him out if this does come off, but I'd fully expect an 11th hour 'swoop' from someone else, probably from the Kings Road area.

Hang about. What is the difference to us between paying a (staged) transfer fee and paying the player a high salary?
Is it to do with the unwritten rule that if you get a player on a free, then you can't sell him on?

What makes you think he doesn't want mega wages now?!

He probably does but his options may be shrinking. Seems like he could start a fight in a phone box so maybe the biggest clubs are keeping their distance.

High salary makes the rest of the squad want a pay rise.

So Janssen would fit the bill.

Save £20,000,000 on transfer fee, pay him £333,333 a week over 5 years.

He would be a great signing imo. Could play left of a 3 with Winks central and Sissoko right - all capable of bursting forward and effecting the game.
