It's the channels. With Dier sitting deep, Sissoko can run the channels, provide an outlet for the wing backs and create space centrally for Eriksen, Kane and Ali/Song. He was working the channels well - it wasn't central midfield play. Demebele and Wanayama simply don't do that. Their primary focus is ball retention and control. So with them while it appears that we have control of the game, we are too central and not penetrative/"creative" enough because our creative guys don't have space. They are not very quick distributors either so our play is ponderous with them in the side. With sissoko - even though he clearly does not have the best touch - our side looks mobile and more attacking, as he always looks forward in his play. With Dier holding - and holding well - it's a much more balanced looking side.

On another note - well done Kev Wimmer. Did really well today against United. Wish him well. Always rate him

Ironically i suggested a few week back his future with us lay as a cm player- someone rated it as funny; I can't remember who but I'm glad to see some good performances from him.

Some Spurs fans were shocked. Most of us could see that he has enormous quality and power. And he has been played out of position most of the time.

If you want to know how good Sissoko is: imagine him lining up in centre midfield for the opposition. You'd know our midfield were going to have a tough game.

With Lamela injured, some people have needed a scapegoat.

I've never doubted he has ability just that he hasn't been producing for us. It's not just this game where he hasn't looked out of his depth, all season he's done OK. If he'd started like this maybe he would've settled in? I don't think he's a first eleven player, but can do a job from the bench and adding to the squad.

He done a major amount of running today, it's not just on the ball where players can be effective. His movement created space for others, top class game wish he'd buried the header though.

I thought Everton were absolutely rubbish today - and Sissoko looked like a player who could count on one hand how many games he'd played over the course of 12 months...

His direct running into channels certainly benefited Eriksen - who found himself in plenty of space, however Sissoko's first touch and final pass leave a lot to be desired and must be an area for him to improve in over the upcoming 6 months if he seriously thinks he will kick on and successfully integrate himself into Pochettino's thinking.

I thought Davinson Sanchez on the other hand was absolutely fantastic!

Much has been said about his first touch, but it may be that he is lacking composure due to being anxious to do well. He certainly has mental toughness in spades.

Good the fans sang his name a bit, hopefully will give him a bit more confidence and drive him on to show us his best.

Reminds me of Zokora in midfield. Not sure if that's good or not.

I'd fucking love it if he established himself as a starter and pissed off the haters.

People give him stick for a lack of goals but at least he got got himself in positions to have chances. As much as I love Dembélé, it almost appears as if he doesn't want goals.
