Here's one way this plays out.

• Zaha knows he won't ever play in the CL with Palace.
• He knows he can do this with Spurs.
• He reckons he might play in the CL soon if he joins Arsenal.
• All summer, we read scores of "Arsenal battling with Spurs for Zaha's signature" articles, mainly based on bollocks.
• Eventually, in late August, Arsenal stump up stupid money for Zaha.
• The same people here who are saying today that Palace's financial demands are way too high will howl about "Levy not backing the manager" after Zaha has signed for Arsenal.

I have a bit of info from someone very close to wilf that he wants to join spurs but very unlikely to happen due to being too far apart in their demands. Arsenal have a deal on the table for him that just needs signing but he's holding out. No chance of a return to man utd, if City came in for him he knows he'll be a bench warmer so not keen as wants to be heavily involved wherever he ends up. At this point arsenal looking the most likely to meet all the criteria....

and other leavers

Anything north of £50m for us probably isn't worth it, and anything south of £70m definitely isn't worth it for Palace. Suspect he may need to go on strike to force a move through if he's insistent on leaving this summer.

I took the initial comment I quoted as not meeting Palace’s demand transfer-fee wise.

If he’s being silly about terms then I wouldn’t want him either!
