In no way is what Gary Neville said mentioned. Load of crap

There is a link to it half way down. He basically calls us 'weak' and we always have been.

Given his experiences playing against us, and what we see season after season its a fair comment.

He then says Poch should be given 2 or 3 years to change this 'weak' mentality which is just outrageous.

He doesn't respond to Gary Neville he agrees with him and says it is one of the things they are working on. Neville was completely right in what he said. We have always had a weak underbelly and consistently been beating from leading positions. We don't have that confidence ingrained in us that we can beat any team and when things start to go against us we panic and revert to headless chickens.

Hopefully we can improve in these areas and in some cases remove the the rot and sign players with a better mentality.

Gary Neville was going on about how United will get there, but that the team needs time to adapt to LVG's concept and philosophy. Then he turned around and said that Poch should have been taking the very good squad he has at his disposal and making it work by now.

I normally like what he says but on the weekend he was a hypocrite with red tainted specs.

That being said I agree with the fact that our club lacks a winning mentality and a mental strength. I know that it is a bit of a cliche when the Utd bunch talk about the utd club mentality but there is a lot of truth to it. Even with - on paper - weaker squads they have for a long time had the robustness in their mentality.

Yep we've always been soft though good to watch in some eras.

No different further back. Dave Mackay carried the early sixties team on his back at times.

Neville's criticism was fair enough and Poch's statement that we need to play more as a team rather than individuals is equally correct IMO.

So a labotomy for each player (except Townsend) and a larger pitch and we are good to go!

Simples...

You know guys to a certain extent Gary is right. We are "weak" in a sense that we cannot hold onto a lead. Whenever we score a goal we look complacent, instead of looking for a cushion, we concede. It's happened far too often in recent history, games we really should have pushed on and won (Newcastle, Sunderland etc). We're off to a really shakey start. i for one wouldn't be to disappointed with finishing outside of Europe this season, it hasn't done us any good anyway!

I believe Pochettino is onto a deep core nerve when he talks about our mentality, this unfortunately has become the culture at Tottenham. The subject really should be addressed within the club in areas such as recruitment and development. I doubt Levy model ie buy cheap sell high will agree.

Gary, as he usually is, is correct. Hated him as a player but as a pundit and possible future manager I like him a lot.

These days I never listen to the pundits. They just talk a lot of tosh to get their fees, beats working. They are all ex footballers with loyalties, prejudices etc. I prefer to read or listen to real sports journalists than has been footballers who struggle to string a sentence together.

Shitty click bait, title has nothing to do with actual text.

Neville is a really good pundit. Better than those apes paid to write stories about us signing any foreign player that could possibly be available. Everything he said could probably be tracked back through the history of our club.

Neville is the best there is at the moment for breaking the game down, look at a few weeks back when he said Mingolet should have stopped jags shot, they all laughed then he broke it down showed examples and he was spot on rather Nev than Owen, Quinn, Smith et al

I think a lot of it comes down to lack of belief, in themselves, in one another, and perhaps in the manager. Once we concede, or simply fail to go ahead, we panic. There is no sense that if we plug away and stick to the plan we will get back into the game. Players heads drop or they start trying to win the game single handed, either way it becomes sloppy and undisciplined.
