Perhaps the club should consider making it easier to buy tickets?

For fans like me who can't commit to regular attendance thanks to geography, it's become more and more of a ball ache to secure tickets to games.

A few years ago, you'd ring up or check the website , see that there were tickets free for a less in-demand game, click a few buttons and buy one.

Now, on the off chance I can make it to a home game, first I have to check availability, which is often incorrect as the site said Palace was sold out when it clearly wasn't. Then, if it says tickets are available, I have to sign up for a membership in order to be allowed to buy them, which costs something like £40 per annum.

£40 for the pleasure of being allowed to put your name in the hat to be able to buy a ticket is a royal piss take and demonstrates zero value or consideration for fans who either live far away, are visiting from overseas, or whose income does not permit them to attend multiple games per season. It's actually easier to get tickets to Old Trafford and the Etihad, because those clubs realise that there is a lucrative tourist and casual market which they can and should tap in to.
Tbh I think a membership fee is fair, maybe the price of the membership can be argued. At least with a member ship the club will benefit, secondly the club has a record of its supporters, thirdly theres some accountability from fans attending to behave.

Completely disagree. The club would benefit from the additional ticket sales and on-site revenue just as much, and it can achieve the latter without enforcing an arbitrary “membership” just for the pleasure of being able to buy tickets

Correct me as I’m not aware, are other clubs following the same protocol with memberships?
