Tottenham are looking at ways of increasing attendances at their new stadium after nearly 3,000 seats were unused against Crystal Palace.

I've just read that while the pitch is elevated for football matches, the front two rows of seats will remain empty. For NFL games when the pitch is lowered, the front two rows will be available for purchase. If true, I personally think this is really piss poor planning to have the front two rows of seats (think its behind each goal) empty for each game. Didn't look great on TV having those rows empty and also means that the ground will never be full to capacity. To have a brand new state-of-the-art stadium where you cant fill the front two rows of seats?! Seriously?

What you've read isn't true.....

I found it odd that there were 15-20 seats in the row i was in and in front that were empty. Other than suggesting it was a premium area (525) not sure it fits into those categories.

I very much doubt we'll ever see 62,062, especially if it's true some seats are lost to segregation. If that is true, I'm shocked. Why wouldn't you factor that in, instead of fitting seats that can never be used?

You won’t need segregation at NFL games or rugby as their fans can behave themselves

I’ve sat in the front row of north stand and your eye level is about knee level of the players.

It’s not great but I bet people would love to sit there anyway

Its probably a shite view of the other side of the stadium, but a great view of any action in that end.

But then you announce multiple capacities. You don't say it sits 62,062 if it doesn't. Most other stadiums used for various events do this. IIRC, Dortmund even list different capacities for different football competitions.

Thats not really true at all - at least with respect to NFL games in the States.

There is no segregation - because there are very few away fans at any given game. But, its still pretty dicey if you are an away fan at an NFL game. Hell, there are drunk fights amongst home fans at most NFL games...

It’s not necessarily the same seats every time. Depending on the size of the away allocation the segregation perimeters change.

If there are problems with the sight-lines just sell the tickets at reduced prices. They'll get snapped up quick time. Better than having empty rows.

Im pretty shocked sight lines are even being discussed. With such designs and technology inputs it would be pretty laughable if those front row seats ain’t in use

I've seen more fist fights at American football than at football!......among home supporters!!
There are no alcohol bans at the stadiums and there is a free for all piss up the carparks prior to the game that always gets out of hand.

NFL, rugby, other sporting events. We built the stadium for ancilliary event revenue as well besides for just football.

Perhaps the club should consider making it easier to buy tickets?

For fans like me who can't commit to regular attendance thanks to geography, it's become more and more of a ball ache to secure tickets to games.

A few years ago, you'd ring up or check the website , see that there were tickets free for a less in-demand game, click a few buttons and buy one.

Now, on the off chance I can make it to a home game, first I have to check availability, which is often incorrect as the site said Palace was sold out when it clearly wasn't. Then, if it says tickets are available, I have to sign up for a membership in order to be allowed to buy them, which costs something like £40 per annum.

£40 for the pleasure of being allowed to put your name in the hat to be able to buy a ticket is a royal piss take and demonstrates zero value or consideration for fans who either live far away, are visiting from overseas, or whose income does not permit them to attend multiple games per season. It's actually easier to get tickets to Old Trafford and the Etihad, because those clubs realise that there is a lucrative tourist and casual market which they can and should tap in to.
