Solskjaer thinks Dier is ‘hugely underrated’

I think he's fine as a squad player or possibly a starting CB if he makes that his position. But he's not good enough in midfield. I honestly think he bulked up too much, he seems so immobile these days.

I really like Dier as a person (as he comes over in the media) and i'd miss Dier the leader and Dier the defender, but i'd happily sell Dier the midfielder as his midfield skillset is only really useful in a handful of matches or occasions. Personally i'd tell him he'd be fighting it out with Davinson and Foyth to partner Jan from now on if he stayed (which negates the need to buy a replacement for Toby imo) and if he felt he wanted to continue as a midfielder elsewhere then i'd happily sell him for a large fee, which would probably cover 80% of the cost of one of those recently linked midfielders we seem to be chasing.

i think you have to becareful selling to many players, and bringing in to many, Dier is still young and has had a poor season but that is mainly due to injuries and the world cup i think we should forget the season gone, could we replace him for 50 million with a better player?

not being homegrown is a shitter though but i think we should keep if possible.

Also Forth is nowhere near ready our defense of Dier and Jan would be a lot more rock solid than Jan and Jaun.

I really don't want to be down on Dier, as i think he has the sort of personality you want at a club. However, the general consensus is we need to improve to reach the very top level and i'm not sure many, if any, absolute top teams would want Dier. I'd sell Wanyama over Dier all day long, but you'd get what,£10m for Wanyama but something like £50m for Dier, and if you are looking to improve then you don't necessarily spend just that £50m on a replacement, you'd hopefully put that £50m with some extra cash and buy a really top player (i have no idea who btw).

I'm much the same on a potential sale of Dier as i am with a potential sale or Tripper, Eriksen, Toby etc etc - if the boss thinks it's the right call then i'm happy enough to see it happen. Only players i would absolutely hate for us to sell would be Kane,Son,Dele and Winks.

I shan't miss his brain farts.
Room in the squad is of a premium. He's non home grown and far from guaranteed a starting place.

I don't think Dier is the greatest midfielder in the world but I am really glad to have him in our squad.

I think he brings a lot in terms of leadership and he seems to be a favourite character within the squad with his close friendships with Dele and Sonny especally.

He has that hard as fuck look about him and is definitely the type of player that you'd want by your side going in to battle. So I'd tell Ole to do one personally.

He could be their next John O'Shea and how valuable was he to Utd over the years? Good player, we should keep him, but I'd expect him to want this move if it's true...

I'm sure if you asked 100 man United fans who their 10 most valuable player are/were 100 of them wouldn't include John O'shea. I reckon 10 might remember who he was if prompted.

He is positionally sound and solid defensively but so is Winks and he offers much more in terms of creativity and controlling tempo. I prefer DMs who open themselves to receive a pass, Dier looks like he is hiding from a pass sometimes. He is still very valuable because is versatile and has leadership qualities but probably not good enough to displace anyone from starting 11.

If he wanted the move and kicked off about I'd be OK with it but, the flip side is that he does have that versatility which enables us to change formations 'on the hoof'. I certainly wouldn't be looking to shove him out the door but there are plenty of reasons why it might be a deal worth considering.

Doubt we'd get 50m for Dier tbh. Maybe 40.

I really feel 2018/19 season was an injury ravaged one Dier Dele Aurier even Trippier and others. We did not see enough good performances throughout. Dier is very underrated and we lost a hell of a lot without him.

I find it difficult to quantify statements like that without facts, have you seen any that shows our loss rate is higher without him?

I think our form went down the pan when we lost Dembele which happened to coincide with a lot of Dier's illness and injury problems.

HG. Versatile. Good Attitude. I think now’s the time for him to move to CB though. We have problems to solve already without selling a good player to a rival. I have faith in your Eric.

Plus I want to start singing the Eric Dier chant again. One of my faves... all together now!

I don't think he is HG.

He has put in some stellar performances, but few and far between.

Certainly a worthy squad player, and I'm hoping this past seasons health woes he's endured can see him get back to putting in a few more eye catching performances once more.
