I despise the **** but I do think he could make a decent coach unfortunately

Really, he is so fragile, the guy is so arrogant and self absorbing.. He wouldnt last 5 minutes with todays top players. They would see straight through him.

Please, please someone, anyone, give this guy a coaching job. The higher up the better as far as I'm concerned. He'll be a disaster. His total lack of self awareness as to just how unsuited he is to management is almost tragic. It'll be fun watch it unfold and he'll be that much closer to his inevitable mental breakdown.

He once said that he would have been a great sweeper. I think we should give him a broom and point him towards the building site.

His team are 2-0 down just before half time, albeit against the run of play. The team talk has to be motivational and the players are looking forward to some words of wisdom from one of the greatest managers in the country.

Peep peep. Half time.

Players jog off, awaiting the instructions that will turn the game around.

Where's the boss? one asks.

Oh, he left. Said he didn't feel in the right frame of mind. Just left. Walked out. Gone home.

Oh cheers, Sol.

*by magic* Campbell is enjoying a great run of form in charge of his team, fans sing his name and they are even in an FA Cup semi final against a local rival. His fans are well up for this game.. his contract as manager is expiring but it's okay, he loves the club and has every intention of staying.

About a quarter into the match, Sol says to his assistant he doesn't feel well and asks the asst to be in charge. Um, okay, sure. He walks off down the tunnel. Players look disappointed but they carry on as best they can.

Next day, he tells everyone he's decided to take over at the local rival from the start of next season.

---

A few seasons into that job, he expresses a desire to manage abroad. Again his contract is running down and the board decide to allow him this opportunity, as a sort of thank you for his service. He goes on and on about learning a new language, testing himself in a new league...

.... unveiled as manager of a team on the South Coast of England.

Cheers, Sol.

---

At the end of his managerial career, someone asks Sol Campbell what he enjoyed most about it.

'The long coats in winter, definitely. I do like the attire. You need good quality gear. I love the fabrics, the materials and the cuts.' - he did actually say this, btw. About going shooting.

'Oh, and the banter was just lovely'

Um, okay. Thanks, Sol.

In a way, the tense doesn't matter. He probably thinks he is already one of the greatest managers ever.

Such a perennial let-down merchant in everything he has done in the public eye, but the main thing that stands out here is that he felt the world needed to know he had decided to become a coach - has any ex-footballer ever gone out of their way to announce their decision to coach? Ever? He lives his life like annoying people use facebook.

I like the way he's also confident that his experience as a player - six years ago - would be of any help now. The game has changed so much in that time with new rules for offside and challenges, formations, pace, tactics - every possible aspect has moved on. If he goes off and does a ton of coaching courses and earns the achievement, i don't doubt a top club would take a punt on him, but we won't have to worry about keeping an eye out, he'll quite definitely let some spivvy hack at the Mail know and do an interview about it.

And then again a few weeks later, when his contract is inevitably cancelled and he needs to tell everyone how it wasn't his fault.

From politics, Campbell explains, he learned the art of rhetoric, of not only being convinced of an idea in his head but of articulating it to convince others.

Yeah... Like he's convinced all those top clubs to give him jobs despite not being qualified. You could say he's learned the art of being a lying prick from politics, but he was already highly adept at that anyway.

People are still obsessed with this guy, why?
Because he says stupid shit like this a few times a month?

And aside from mugging us off, he left Arsenal under a huge cloud, sued an already financially ruined Portsmouth over unpaid image rights and bonuses, was duped into signing for the Notts County project that failed and just upped sticks and left when he realised he'd been conned. Trouble follows him everywhere.
