Feyenoord manager Arne Slot “would have liked” to go to Tottenham but decided against it when they didn’t show a willingness to pay for him.

LOL, now this story I do believe.
Me too. It is the only story that makes sense. Having publicly rejected Nagelsmann, it is really bizarre to have backed away from a deal that if rumours are to be believed, would have cost around the same as an average/aspiring PL player! Just hope it is one of those situations where a preferred option came up which they are working to get over the line as it would be so underwhelming if we ended up with someone like Brendan Rogers after all of that.

Yup. But all signs and ITK point to chaos.

Reminds me of end of Moneyball, they say it's not about the money, it's about what the money says

Makes you want to weep really, especially as we need someone to get stuck into our dysfunctional squad and get us ready for next season which will come around quickly.
If the £20M figure to Feynoord was correct that’s apparently how much it will cost us to get that bum Ndombele off the books alone.
You are not buying a washing machine Mr Levy - you are investing in someone who can help lead us out of this mess and make us competitive again. When set against league places and European qualification that £20M disappears into the ether very quickly.

Paying the third highest compensation ever for a man who has only manged for 4 years, and only in a footballing backwater, would be ridiculous.
I wanted Slot, and thought he would be good, but in this instance I can understand the clubs stance. Crazy money for this dude.

Coming back to this, I really want to believe there is a method to all this madness! Maybe it could be that Slot was the preferred option at £5m however when Feynoord jacked up the price to 3-4X that amount it made the club think again given other avialble options with release clauses at this level. This is where Amorim slots in rather nicely (no pun intended) as I believe his clause is around the €15-20m euro mark. I'll go out on a limb and say Ruben Amorim will be the next manager of Tottenham Hotspur!! Salivating at the thought and might even go stick a cheeky wager on it now. 20/1 looks rather tasty. Will probably end up being Angie knowing my luck!
