Can we have him as a hockey style sub where we just bring him on for corners and free-kicks

I watch a lot of Swansea games and Gylfi is class, without him they'd be absolutely nailed on to finish 20th. He's matured into a stronger player than he was with us, and his linkup play and through balls are great, as well as his set piece ability. He's also a better leader than he used to be. Playing him in the middle is key though, he's just not a winger. I actually think we misused him when he was with us, he's as good as Eriksen, but much less comfortable on the left. Eriksen - Sigurdsson - Lamela would be a pretty fun midfield. I'd prefer Isco or Coric, but we could do a lot worse to get some intelligence and guile into our team than bringing Gylfi back.

Such comments just confirm that he shouldn't have any real control of transfers.

PROS
Set pieces
Chips in with goals
Clever passer
Well respected at the club
Would be in his peak

CONS
Athleticism ( would he fit into Poch's style of play)
27 years old
Not better than what we currently have
Would cost upwards of 20 mill

IMO Siggy would improve our set pieces significantly and be another attacking threat as he has a desire to get into the box and score. He is 27 which could be considered old by our standards and honestly I would rather get a younger more malleable player ( Coric, maybe Edwards will be ready for the 1st team soon?) for Poch to help develop but I do believe Siggy with his experience can come in and inject some quality in the team.

Looking at these stats, you can argue against bringing Siggy back. The stats unfortunately do not tell the whole story as Siggy has been forced to play as a lone forward and his Swansea tend to now play on the counter. Plus with all the changing of managers and lack of quality players on the Swansea roster, I imagine he had to work hard to adjust to his changing environment.

I liked him but not good enough for us. He's better off being (one of) the main man in a mid table club than a fringe player at ours imo. I'd rather give Onomah & Winks more minutes that pay to bring back Siggy.

Onomah is more of box to box mid and Winks deep lying CM so they wouldn't offer the same goal scoring or setpiece threat Siggy would. I do agree though that if we could find a younger AM to come into the team I would prefer that or maybe we are prepping Marcus Edwards for that role but he will be turning 18 in December and we need to take our time with him building him up physically. At 27, Siggy is coming into the peak years of his career and has a ton of experience playing in the league.

A lot of you have selective memories. Siggy was played as number 10 quite a few times by TacticsTim and AVB but he just didn't have the guile, quick-thinking or technical ability to make a success of the position for us. Sighting his form for Swansea isn't really of relevance as they never face bus parkers. He has far more time and space to work in and all Swanseas play revolves around him as he is undisputably their best player. These are not freedoms he was or would be afforded playing for us, so it would be pointless signing IMO.

First Chadli, then berbatov, then Defoe, now Sigurdsson, next week should we bring back Pav.

Early CL exit and a league defeat and the desperation becomes strong

We need players who are better than what we currently have, ie better than Alli, Eriksen, Son, Lamela

I like Siggy, but he does not fit this bill

his delivery from set pieces does, in fact since Siggy left, so did Eriksens right peg

I still don't understand why we sold Chadli

I think in the end it was more Chadli had to go if he wanted the chance to play for Belgium. if he stayed with us I reckon 90% of his play time would be off the bench, and because of that he never made the Euro squad

Jesus, if some of you were in charge we'd have Defoe spearheading the attack, Siggy as Trequartista all under the guidance of 'arry fucking Redknapp!

Dear oh dear...

Would take him back in a heartbeat.

It's not fair to take an AMC, put him on left wing, complain about the lack of production, sell him off, only to watch him start banging them in again when back in his natural position. Especially when we are hurting for goals from open play.

While we're at it, I'd take Chadli back too. It's easy sometimes to say "not good enough" but during more than a few games this year it would have been nice to see those two coming off the bench to look for a goal.

Sometimes you don't know what you have until it's gone.
Spot on. If only i could give you a like, agree and winner rating, but i can only choose one.

Chadli especially.

Why weren't our fans yearning for him and Defoe back last season I wonder?
