Of course there is a seperation, the existence of the director of football/ transfer demonstrates that. And is ample demonstration of the pitfalls of that model at his club, Santini didn't want Carrick, Jol didn't want Bent and Prince Boateng etc. The point is Pochettinho does not have full control over this area, not should he. And yes you will hear me complain when coaches raid their ex clubs for players, it is a pet hate of mine. I have no issue with Wynnama, good player, it is the absence of imagination and laziness that grates.

Sorry but I couldn't disagree more. And I think you are wrong about the separation. It doesn't exist. More so after Baldini left

Fine to disagree but you are iginoring the whole structure that Levy impletend and vaunted for a decade and the multiple individuals involved in this such as Arnesen, Commoli, Baldini, Mitchell, Bloomfield and now Hitchen.

I thought Hitchen was chief scout.

Mitchell, Broomfield and Hitchen are/were chief scouts
And if you didn't know, they report to Pochettino. They can't decide anything, just recommend players

"Hitchen started work on Monday and is reporting to the three-person football committee made up of Levy, Pochettino and academy manager John McDermott"

Huh? I'm not following you

If Pochettino is part of the committee, then there's no separation. There's a consensus as I initially stated

As is stated there is a seperation, previously there would be a manager who would control all of the it, the coaching and recruitment. Now there are coaches and transfer committees. We have a transfer committee of which Poch has a degree of input. My point is that should be as limited as possible because I don't believe that coaches ( who average tenure is now just 423 days) should have any great degree of control in this area.

Hasn't this link now been debunked by JJ?

If so, debating the merits of bringing Siggy back are moot

He said there was 'more chance' of Barkley, which suggests to me that Sigurdsson might be somewhere on the list, but we won't be making a £25m bid anytime soon.

I thought he said it was 'paper talk'?

If not, I stand corrected
He did but then said there was 'more chance' of Barkley. Could be that any talk of an actual move in him is 'paper talk' - we may still be somewhat interested in him.

Not a big deal either way, based on what JJ said, he clearly isn't a priority.
