So are you of the opinion that if Redknapp had stayed so would VDV, Bale, etc, Liverpool and Everton wouldn't have become resurgent and we'd still be nibbling from the top table?

I honestly believe we would have had a better chance of keeping them yes. Not only that, I personally believe Harry wouldn't have allowed to Liverpool to finish above us after making Spurs a better team. Can't prove it, just my opinion.

...The fact is their should be a way to get your point across without swearing. Spurscommunity should be used for proper debate.

Personally I've been very disappointed with the quality and quantity of swearing in this thread. Let's give our home grown anglo saxon words a chance, without continually demanding fancy la-de-dah foreign words.

Would people on here be happy if LVG had the same win percentage after the same amount of games for Spurs?

Guess not.

What? Maybe you need to take a look at your cretinous personality instead. You might find an annoying, self righteous prick in there somewhere ;)

Hmmmm. Methinks the bigspurs doth protest too much.*

*Was that self righteous enough for you?

So it's not the results that are important just the personalities?
Results are most important; personality is important for the first few seasons because it gives an indication of managerial potential.

Man U didn't dispense with Ferguson for the first three years because his personality indicated that he would become an excellent manager.

In my opinion, Sherwood has done enough to indicate to me, both in terms of results and personality, that he is a winner.

A 17 game sample not only means that he is wrong but that he is wrong because 17 games makes him irrelevant.

That's not an argument, it just suggests you haven't a clue when it comes to numeracy.

The interesting line you and others seem to be taking is that a 17 game record isn't long enough for Sherwood to be touting his factual win percentage, and yet it is long enough for you to decide on whether he's good enough.

For reasonable people, they'd either be happy with his win ratio, which just took another notch toward the positive, or they'd reserve judgement until he's had a sufficient number of games to make that judgement.

In a world of reasoned argument, you appear not to belong.

It's as much about the feel of the club and the manager as the results, in the early days especially.

If the players seem negative and the football is shabby and disorganised...lacking cohesion and doesn't seem to be progressing at all, then a few good results won't paper over those cracks.

O dear another win.
Still players win matches only managers lose them. Good job our poor sod hasn't lost many or people would be calling him ,Dim,Idiot Deadwood the list is endless .

But you can't take it away from the guy we have beat most of those we were supposed to. I seam to remember that was last years gripe .

Let me start by saying I don't think Tim's the man to take us to the next level. If we're honest any manager coming in has a big job on his hands. The fans demand instant success, good football and to cap it all there's no money. It will be a heroic effort to get us into the champions league next year and keep the fans happy. It's no job for a novice which was my fear when we appointed him. Don't forget AVB was a respected manager with a decent track record but in fairness to Tim does anyone think we would be doing any better if AVB was still around? They've had roughly half a season each and done roughly equally well. We won't make top four but we could yet get our record points tally. I think he's done all right and I'd like someone better but until Van Gaal or de Boer say they want the job let's not be too hasty to get rid of a guy who's done OK. We missed champions league so that will probably be the end of him but it's not like we're west ham all of a sudden.
