That's cool brother. Can you name a particular match where he's impressed you? I haven't watched much of Fulham but when i have he's either been massively peripheral, or Just unimpressive. Maybe watching one of his better games will give me some hope.
I completely understand where your coming from here as he's definitely not a player that stands out when watching him. He doesn't have electric pace, doesnt have unreal passing or crossing and he's not an outstanding dribbler either. But he is more than adept in all these traits, and at his age he has plenty of time to develop these skills.
Having said that, the one skill that he is incredibly gifted in (which is perhaps the one skill that cant be trained) is game intelligence. He doesnt score those tap-in goals through blind luck, but through his innate ability to know where to be at the right time. His decision making when making runs in behind defence's is probably only rivaled by Son in our squad. His choice of pass always seems to be the right call. And it's because of this one skill that I can see why he's so desired.

Probably worth a punt at £25m. People need to realise that if we do buy him we are buying potential, not the finished article. He's unlikely to make much of impact next year, in the same way I wouldn't expect Phil Foden to make much of an impact at City next year. Could be a useful squad player though, and may well go on to become a top player if given time to develop properly.

For £40m with one year left, i'm not to keen on him. Rather we spend the £40m elsewhere. Not exactly an area in LB/LW we need to strengthen.

For £25m I think it's a no brainer.

Was just going to post something similar. He’s not really an explosive eye catching type of player at least not at the moment but his movement, choice and weight of pass and composure is already at a decent level. Massive potential definitely.

So a Dele Alli 2.0 basically

Thanks for that big man. That's a very interesting characteristic, which admittedly i didn't look out for. Do you think he could end up as more of a number 10 then?

Think he will make an incredible attacking fullback. Really hope we can get him.

I have some hesitation about him to be honest. Ultimately, it comes down to the fact that he's athletic, has a good brain and for an 18 year old has great experience and presumably a level head that comes with that...and we feel we can work with that. Which I'm totally fine with. He's also left footed which shouldn't be underestimated.

I have to say though, I don't see what I'd call star quality. By that, I mean I don't see a natural first touch or great delivery. Long term I see him as a LB, whereas Bale had way more going forward - the comparisons are frankly pretty unflattering.

At the end of the day, I'm all for signing him because for someone his age he's had a great start to his career, but I feel some are getting really quite carried away on the basis of not a lot.

Levy would be all over this.

HG, 18 and one year left on contract so we get him cheaper.

If he performs well, we've got an amazing player for maybe 10+ years.

If he doesn't, we'll get our money back when we sell.

From what I have seen of him this is very true.

He seems to be on a fast auto pilot and his transitional play is seamless, movIng himself or the ball up the pitch. Add in some great players around him.

Good call NiS.

Just to make a point...

Andy Robertson and Harry Maguire were part of a dog shit Hull defence that got relegated.

I bet not a single person on this board would turn their noses up at them now.

To those who are refuting the incredible stats of an 18 year old in a shit side because they don’t see it with their eyes, how many times in the past two seasons have you actually warched Fulham other than v Spurs? Because if you’d watched enough of him, you’d see great pace, great awareness and movement, and a really lovely delivery. That sounds like a lot to work with.

I don't see it. I don't think we should be signing a player who i think is a very rough diamond, just because he's had some success in the championship.
Bar being athletic, i can't see anything he excels at, and i actually think he's technically poor.
Just because he started young doesn't mean he'll become a world beater. Can anyone suggest a game where he's really impressed them?

He’s been under three different mgrs this season, each of whom may/may not have wanted him to play in a different role.

As others have already stated, he’s still only a teen.

He wants us. We want him. We have the FB whisperer as our mgr. It’s a marriage made in heaven (or NWHL as I prefer to call it).

I think he will come but not for anything more than £25m.
He’ll go for peanuts (in today’s market) if Fulham holds on to him for another season. If he insists on only leaving for us, I wouldn’t be surprised if Levy gets him for even less than £25m.

Would like his brother too, for multiple reasons. Apparently Steven is right footed. That'd be handy to have one either side!

I wonder if that's an option?

I've openly said a few times on here that I've not been overly impressed by Ryan Sessegnon BUT I've not watched him that much to be able to form a strong opinion. At this point I'm open minded.

I would therefore welcome the signing because there is clear ability there and he appears to have a football maturity that is well ahead of his years.

All I would say is that I certainly don't expect to see him starting for us next season, aside from cup games. I'd also debate what his best position is at this point. I probably wouldn't trust him as a conventional full back just yet and maybe more as a wing back/winger. Is he another Gareth Bale in the making? I hope so and I would back Poch to be able to help him realise his potential.

Just came to make the same point.

You see TAA and Andy Robertson playing amazing for Liverpool as wingbacks all season.

Sessesgnon could be like that for us. The kid obviously has heaps of potential, could be a world beater. Absolutely a deal we should do.

When one sees how important Trent and Robertson have been in contributing to Liverpool's performances - much like Spurs in our prime with Walker and Rose - we should be going all out to bring in attacking fullbacks of Sess' qualities
