he's a wing back, same as our FBs

No, he played on the left of an attacking three in a 4-2-3-1 majority of time.

Or as a left back, haven't seen him deployed as a wing back for Fulham yet as they play back four.

City and Utd seem interested and they can pay the money.
Hopefully, he'll talk to Patrick Roberts who was touted about as the next big thing, but didn't get a look in at Citeh.
Utd need a left back but I can't see him starting as their number one, Jose usually goes for established stars as he wont be around in the long run to develop youngsters.

I may be crazy but Sessegnon actually reminds me a lot of Dele Alli when he first joined us. Good physically, capable of flair, prone to vanishing, but a natural goal scorer.

I think his positioning, his reactions, and his burst of acceleration make him pretty deadly in the box. Meanwhile, he definitely has something to offer on the wing, even if he’s not the most dynamic.

This post on the Friends of Fulham forum today sums up Sessegnon IMO (it's multi-quote so please follow the link)

"It is a valuable asset [his instinct/football IQ] but there is also a risk it will be held against him. As in, he is a better player than he looks. He's not as exciting or obviously talented as a Pat Roberts but he is such an intelligent player that he knows where to be all the time."

His football IQ is exceptional for his age, and whilst he doesn't have many standout technical qualities and still requires coaching to improve various aspects of his game, he has all the fundamentals in place which is rare for such a young player. I see him as a wing-back long-term. Will still be a huge wedge to spend on potential alone, however.

He has the rarest of skills in his ability to score goals. Isn’t that enough to be going on with ?

This, although they switched to a back 3 for the last 15 yesterday.

Have you watched much Fulham this year? Matt Target was signed on loan in January and plays left back for Fulham. Sessegnon rarely plays defence any more mainly playing on wing. Most of my fulham mates say he is a bit of a liability in defence and much better on the wing. Hence Targett came in on loan. He will no doubt improve defensively but he is every bit the winger rather than wing back at the moment.

I genuinely thought PL and Championship teams just had new kits for every game...

Not sure about Championship but I've definitely seen documentaries where they show the names and numbers being applied to PL shirts prior to the match.

He's perfect for LWB if 343 is going to be our long term formation.

Have no idea if JJ's "disagree" about Sessegnon in the Daily ITK means this transfer could actually happen, but couldn't agree with this more. I was just thinking about the Leicester game from two weeks ago when Danny Rose made a strong run into the box from the LWB position and missed a sitter that would have made it 6-4 and put the game away, instead of giving Leicester another few chances. That's the kind of goal that can be worth 4-6 pts a season, easily, by putting close games out of reach and preventing all the little "Burnleys" from happening in stoppage time and resulting in dropped points. Ben Davies has also been guilty of making strong runs into the box at times and occasionally scuffing a shot at the end, although he's got a powerful strike with his left foot when he can get his feet right. But the Chavs got so many points from Marcos Alonso goals over the past two seasons. Games where they did nothing. Sat back. Were basically terrible other than Hazard. And then Alonso popped up just outside the box with a strong run and a strong left foot and a key goal to change the game.

Is it crazy to spend 50M on a kid like Sessegnon, not knowing whether he can hold his own defensively as a LWB? Maybe. But maybe it's the type of smart signing that can end up being an extra 5 or 6 pts a season because of super intelligent runs at the right times with world class finishing at the end. Particularly after he's been given the Poch treatment and and top flight football for a season or two...

Man, talking about brave new ideas and strengthening the club, giving Poch the proper backing he needs then buying this guy for a crazy sum is going to be incredibly underwhelming.

With ITK talk of if Fulham lose we'll try to sign him the maths don't add up. Most are saying around the 150m mark spend, but just de Ligt, Martial/equivalent and Sessegnon would equal about 150m and we haven't gotten on to what we need most, a CM.

Unless we're ditching idea of spending good money on a CM I really can't see Sess and a Martial coming. Only way to get it all would be ending up with a 200m spend and unless we're selling another first teamer that ain't happening.

I really can't see Sessegnon going for the 50M being thrown around. I think it's far more likely he goes for around 25-30M with some escalators.
