Not a day goes by without Ryan Mason reflecting on the cruel and untimely end to his playing career, but the former Tottenham midfielder has found a new path in football, through coaching.

So pleased for the lad. Always came across as a decent lad, and I for one wish him the very best for the future.

Couldn't be happier for Mason and I'm so proud of the club for supporting him and giving him such a great opportunity.

So glad he's the coach for us for our first game in the new stadium. Learn as much as you can and hopefully, you will be good enough to be our head coach sometime down the line.

Obviously never met him but seems like a thoroughly decent bloke. Hard working, put the team before personal glory and now hopefully is in the first stages of a long career in coaching or management if he wants to go in that direction. I hope the club carry on supporting him as they clearly have done over the years.

Stories like this kick me right in the feels.

If ever there was an example of how cruel but also how fulfilling football can be this lad will be a prime example. If I was Poch for the Man City game and the pre-match talk I would get Mace to do it. I would ask him to tell them that this is their moment, to grab it with both hands and to leave the pitch with no regrets as it can so swiftly be taken away.

We've still a young squad but they haven't managed to grab those opportunities yet and there may not be that many ahead of them. Hopefully, Mace can be an inspiration and we can beat those plastic, state-financed light Blues. It will be tough but take a lead to the Etihad is possible

You're that impressed with how they've delivered the stadium... :sneaky:

It's a shame we don't have a more competitive youth League or b team because then we'd be able to develop our own managers more efficiently
