When Ryan Mason came off injured against Burnley yesterday, Tottenham Hotspur's intensity seemed to drop to almost zero.

He's our MVP. Kane wouldn't be as effective without him in the team.

Mason oils our gears. Simple as that.

I am biased as this guy was good with my grandson when he was a mascot.
But love him as a player. Always has his head up, always looking to do something positive. Still very inexperienced at this level but potentially a top player.

When Ryan went off we ended up with two midfielders sitting deep and not making runs to force the Burnley midfield and defence to back off. Bentaleb was crap, so many of his passes were backwards and he gave possession to the opposition countless times; he doesn't tackle well for a deep lying midfielder and he's no playmaker either.

Why slag off Bentaleb? Mason for sure has done wonders so far, but Bentaleb is from our academy and TRIES hard to impress. This is a MASON thread. Lets just hope Mason recovers soon.

That's my opinion of him, and I'd rather we had players that do impress, not players that try hard to impress. It's great that we have players coming through the academy and Bentaleb has shown some skill and good ball control, but it's his overall performance that lets him down in my eyes. He does the same as Dembele (i.e. pass sideways or backwards) but gives the ball away more often and doesn't put in the challenges someone playing in his position should.
