Cahill has broken his nose quite a few times in the last couple of years, two big collisions with a goalkeeper in 1 game I think so he is pretty reckless in the box

This is worse than the cech skull fracture, because Mason is an outfield player he is expected to head the ball, whereas with cech being a goalkeeper he isn't, so I'm not sure how this one is gonna work out.

Has there ever been an outfield player who plays with a safety hat (can't for the life of me remember what they're actually called) like Cech does?

A number of outfield players in MLS have worn headgear.

Further update from Hull

The Club can confirm that Ryan Mason continues to make excellent progress after sustaining a skull fracture in Sunday’s game against Chelsea.

He will continue to be closely monitored by staff at St Mary’s Hospital over the next few days, whilst also remaining in contact with our medical team to assess his progress.

There will be no further updates from the club until there are any changes in Ryan’s condition. We also ask that people respect Ryan & his family’s privacy whilst he remains in hospital

I hate the UK media.
It's incredible that the people that print this crap are in the same industry/business as those guys that uncovered the Watergate scandal or many others that have risked their lives across the world to defend freedom of the press and expose corruption at high levels.

When a dictator like Trump threatens the freedom of the media and has his people talk about "alternative facts" we need a strong, free and honourable media more than ever and we get this shit!

Poor kid, has had horrendous luck with injuries throughout his career. Was looking really good last season until injuring himself scoring a cracking goal away at Sunderland. Finally gets a start for a coach at Hull who seems to value "football" over "clogs" and gets a horrific injury putting himself on the line again.

I know that Miguel Llera (centerback) used to wear one whilst at Sheffield Wednesday a few years back.

edit: oops ... I see this has already been answered a few times. Carry on.

I love Poch, but probably not as much as he loves Mason

I love Mason too, still sad he left in summer.

I just pray he makes some sort of recovery and is able to get back on his feet again. The head is the most important organ in the body and the most fragile. Football is an after thought here. This is an extremely serious injury and I hope the club volunteers to help pay the medical expenses and is in contact with his family and with Hull to get updates. He's a Spurs boy through and through and is one of our own.

Ive seen the club, the national team, Kane, Lamela and Bale all tweet their well wishes which is great to see. Hope we do something on Saturday. Even a small gesture like a minutes applause before the match. Maybe even everyone wear his shirt last year as a warm up shirt. Hope the fans do a minutes applause at the 8th and 38th minutes as well on Saturday.
Good to see the club taking my reccomendation wearing a Mason 8 shirt tomorrow for warm ups. Very nice gesture. Hope Ryan gets better soon!
