Morocco might be one for the hardcore hipster. They're GD was 11-0 in the toughest group in African qualifying and have a decent mix of younger talents (Ziyech, Harit, Hakimi, etc) with older veterans in their squad (captained by Benatia) and have a dashing frenchman coach that's won the ACN twice. They are North African so technically sound, they remind me of 2014 Algeria who got out of their group and only lost to Germany in ET

If their draw had been a bit kinder to them, they might've been one of the surprise packages of this tournament
If Portugal have one of their bad performances that they are very capable of then they may be able to capitalise.

I just watched Warren Barton reply to the question, who's your dark horse to win the world cup and he replied Senegalo_O

I had a punt on Senegal to be the best African side. Incredible pace in attack with Mane, Keita and Niang. Koulibaly marshalling the back. And how can you not perform when your manager looks like this.

But yeah, when I mean best I'm thinking quarters at best. Not winners.

There will be no organised hooliganism from the Russians.

FSB have a particular relationship with all of Russia's criminal fraternities. Don't shite on your own door step, fuck over those outside Russia and we turn a blind eye. Oh., and if we need a favour we will tell you and you will do it. Other than that, crack on

Surely Modric has to go down as the greatest midfielder of his generation?
He should, but he'll remain underrated as does everyone of his style. People value two types of midfielders, an all-action harrying ballwinner, or someone who gets goal and assists. If you're dictating play through the middle, setting the tempo, playing the ball before the assist, you'll largely go under the radar and never get the credit you deserve.

Ok, Xavi's a bit older but Modrić and Iniesta are definitely of the same "generation".

I wasn't really disagreeing with you. This is always unclear for me though, what defines generations when it comes to determining who is the best. Is Neymar the same generation as Messi/Ronaldo? Is Mbappe (should he go on and have a fantastic career)?

I want to say something but do not know the thread to put in so ill put it here. I HATE forner players of one country being paid AND pushing it to the public to support the arch rival of his country. Especially when it was him and his buddies directly at fault for the failure of a federation not changing and staying the same even after missing out of the WC. But its also incredibly ironic when hes a raging xenophobe and shitting on his international teammates all while being a dual national with the neighbors to the north himself. Dont see this shit coning from Italy or the Netherlands.

Im so glad i chose the fuck landon donovan hill to die on 4 years ago. Great choice. This dude is a fucking fraud and a terrible person. Hated him for the shit he caused after being left off the 2014 roster. Hate him even more now. He fucking sucks. Klinsmann continues to be proven right every day with this guy. FUCK him.

Perhaps I should have said VAR non decisions. What they have given has been correct, its what they have missed

The biggest complaint before the World Cup is that VAR gets involved too much and that it takes too much time and slows the game down.

Now the complaint is VAR doesn't get involved enough. I suspect no matter what happened this World Cup people would have found a way to complain about refs and VAR.

I just wish the commentators and pundits wouldn't keep going on about it

Its when they don't get involved with the obvious that makes the system look bad.
