If he was part of Barcelona B, as reports suggest, he's not in the squad today (Currently winning 3-0).

Not sure if that's good or bad...for us

He got demoted because of the contract stuff I think.

Sorry for being thick, what is Barcelona B? is that reserves?
Kind of, except they're actually part of the league system and play in the second division in Spain (ineligible for promotion, though.) Most Barca players play for Barca B before making the step up.

Blimey they must have a load of players to complement that. Good idea though. Is that allowed in EPL?

They actually sign players solely for the Barca B squad, have their own smaller version of the Camp Nou etc. They basically operate as a standalone club. Real Madrid do the same with their Castilla team and I think the Bundesliga has something similar too.

I think a few of the big Premier League clubs were lobbying for it a couple of years ago but it never really took off. The lower league clubs weren't too keen.

We have the halfway house of U23 teams playing in the League Cup.

Wasn’t the Premier League version something like making the U23 squads part of the league? I thought it made sense but you’re right, the smaller clubs wanted none of it.

I think this is what alot of the Barca fans are disgruntled at. Good prospects are now leaving la Masia, because Barca do not promote many into the 1st team.

Really interesting Article there...it does seem that since the Golden Generation of Valdes, Xavi, Iniesta, Pique, Messi etc....we haven’t seen many of their talented youngsters given shots in the first team.

I haven’t seen much of Puig but surely all the unrest and disgruntled thoughts of Barça fans bust indicate that he is rather special!

His physique is worrying but the boy is 18? He still has growth in him and Poch can have him hit some weights and such, but I think that not going for a potential player because of his size is an extremely short sighted decision and shows naivety I think!

Interestingly enough though..in that article it says that us and Arsenal have been watching Jose Arnaiz who has a €20m release clause...anyone know much about him?

Yes, I saw the bit about us and Arnaiz. Not a clue about the lad.

I did notice the article didn't include Puig in the 5 they think should get promoted.

Poch rates him, I'll trust his judgement, and as you say...the Barca fans certainly rate him.

The non-promotion/leaving story sounds pretty familiar eh?

Probably no bad thing for the game in general

I guess he's not coming then lol

Fair play to him. Genuinely not bothered he doesn't come to us. Barca is the dream of so many of these players and we are not yet in, nor may ever be, in a position to really threaten that. Bet we don't hear his name again for a few years.
