Tottenham are lining up a late swoop for Loic Remy - even though they are being forced to pay a premium.

Be a bit weird paying £11mill for someone with a release clause of £8mill. Nice one though Daily Star.

Havent read the article but I think from memory the 8mil release clause only referred to any teams who were in the Champions League, any other side needed to pay 11mil

Fair enough maybe I was wrong. Never really seems clause like that before.

Is he better than what we've got though? I didn't seen much of him last season.

Maybe not better, but a proven PL goalscorer in his prime. We will need four good strikers, especially for when Ade is away playing the ANC. At 11 million I'd take Remy if his wages are not too high, and I'd take him before he scores another winner against us on Sunday ;)

Unimaginative signing with no resale value, surely with a DOF we can do better than this?

Assured of 15+ goals a season from him, can't see why there is complaints about being after him

I don't think you'll get a striker as good, certainly not better than Remy for £11m. If we think we are gonna get a quality striker for less than that we're living in cloud cuckoo land.
He'll score more goals than Kane and Soldado. Give Ade a run for his money as well imo although offers different qualities.
Personally I'd be well pleased if this happens.

Better, younger and cheaper than Soldado unfortunately. I think he'd be worth it but we don't need 4 strikers when we usually only start one up front.

Aren't his wages 80k a week or something? Sorry but I don't think that's worth it especially for 11m. Think of the resale value.

Shane Long was approx £11m I believe. He can't hit a cows ass with a banjo. Remy is a proven scorer in 2 leagues. At the price he is very good value. I think he'd do a sound job for us. We certainly need 4 strikers given that we are likely to play 60? games this season.

Fulham paid 11 million for McCormack from leeds. IMHO he would be a really good signing and would allow us to play 4 3 3 with him soldado and lamella for example up top and a middle three of capoue Erickson and sandro as he can play all across the front three. would prefer him over Balotelli any day.

Sometimes players don't have a resale value which recoups his original price. it can be recouped by successive CL appearances

what would in your opinion be an imaginative signing who plays regularly where we buy someone for less and a proven PL striker who would be in the 15-20 goals category? .

We can't go into every purchase based on resale value and expect to ever achieve anything.
You can get value for money without resale value. Whats getting in CL worth?
Not sure about wages but this is the EPL. You wanna compete with the big boys you have to pay for it.
As the old saying goes 'Pay peanuts, get monkeys'.

We never replaced Defoe, so we need this type of player. Especially with Prem experience. Buy him and give Harry a few more players on loan, maybe even Kane and he'll start a lot more games.

I'm not saying there's no value - just not the value that we should be looking for. What I am saying is that we might be inundated with a player who could at best perform for a season or two who we would then find difficult to push on when the time comes.
Yes we could get CL, but as 'pool have found out, that's not a guarantee that you can attract the best players from nowhere.
Personally I would love to be proven wrong but in my mind Remy's an awful (and unnecessary) risk.

Worst... Champions league 8M, in Europa league 11M. Else no clause for a club not the europe. means they can demand what they want, i say just bid 8M. If they reject so be it.
