Yesterday evenings game....Leganes 1 Real Madrid 1
Wales international Gareth Bale was a late substitute, only had four touches in 12 minutes, and walked straight down the tunnel at the final whistle.

The writing is on the wall for Mr Bale.

Unfortunately I can only really envision him going to United if he leaves. 30 in a few months, expensive, massive wages and very injury prone, not a good combination.

He's won a stack of trophies at RM, including 4 European Cups!! And he's earnt a massive amount of cash, while he's been there.

So the only thing left to do is become a club legend somewhere and enjoy the rest of his career.

Come home Gareth! The Spurs fans will put a smile on your face again. Money won't buy you happiness*

We can dream...:)

*You'd still be on £150k+ p/w you miserly git!

Once again we need to remember RM keep all his image rights so this can be offset against his wages. If he gets his image rights back presumably there will be room for considerable negotiation on his salary.

Surely his image would take a significant dent if he moved from Madrid to Spurs though

Personally as has already been said on here, I wouldn't want him back. Fantastic memories would be somewhat tarnished as he is no longer the same player.
I hope he stays abroad and spends this time of his career in a lucrative contract with a club he genuinely enjoys playing for.

I think you are right. 3 years back, I think he would have been the missing link to have seen us improve more than we have. Then we could have built the team around him. Now I think we should be looking for someone younger who could be moulded to Poch's vision of how to play. Gareth has a history of injury problems and he is moving into the end of his 'prime' years so possibly a risk.

Madrid are looking to shift anything up to 10 players this summer and revamp their entire team. Marcelo, Bale, Kroos, Varane (may choose to leave), Navas, Modric, Ceballos and Mariano Diaz all looking at a possible exit.

Plus Capello has said they have €500million to spend this summer.

With that sort of money I think there will be a few UK based players they will definitely be in for, Pogba being one, Hazard being another and they'll get both. They'd be stupid not to look at Alderwereld at 25m, there will probably be a lot of paper talk of them going in for Mbappe and Kane and they'll fail. And they'll probably try for Kante as well. I'm not sure I see a space for Eriksen in their squad with the likes of Isco, Asensio and Vasquez (plus signings)

There was an interesting comment by one of the Spanish guys on The Totally Football Show this week. He said he's heard that Bale is threatening to just retire from football if Madrid want to sell him. He's going to make sure that they don't get a penny from selling him against his wishes.

The €500million must include player sales because a team can't have a €500million transfer budget.

Why would he retire. They can't force him to go against his wish. Just sit there to collect his wages.

I imagine that it could be his way of telling Real that he's not going to be forced into a move. If he leaves it will be on his terms and to a club that he wants to join. If not he'll stay where he is and enjoy the sun and the Spanish golf courses.

Just think of the influence he could have upon, and what he could teach the likes of Winks & Skipp etc.

Would be like when we got Davids in & Carrick almost instantly improved as a player.

Zidane seems to be treating these games like friendlies just to test things out and see what some of the squad are like.
