Personally if finding funds are going to be an issue to improve the squad then id rather........
Sell tippier and aurier.
Play a back 4 for most games as i think its best for us.
In playing a back 4 play sissoko at rb for solidity as nobody will get by him.
Keep and play kwp for the few times that we use 3cbs with wbs.
Use the money free'd up to buy a top class cm.
That will probably see us roughly break even. Ideally id like to see the club go balls out to sign one of bale, sane, sancho for a forward spot.

So now we're going to sell one of the few HG players we have (and our 2nd most creative player) and make Moussa play a position he doesn't play just when he's actually begun to show quality in his actual position of Centre Midfield?

Tempted to ask where you get your pharmaceuticals from tbh.

We are simply not going to sell both our senior players at a position and start the season with only a completely new and untested signing and a youth player who has not won a place over either of the aforementioned senior players. It leaves us completely bare if there is an injury or the signing takes a while to bed in, which happens all the time. That's a FIFA Manager Mode kind of move.

One RB will leave, one will come in, and KWP will have to continue his development and beat out one of the other two, and if he stagnates and can't then he will leave.

Plenty of options..
Dier can be a RB
Or Make Sissoko be a quality RB
Imagine we play 343 in CL final
Foyth, Sanchez Toby
Sissoko Winks Eriksen Jan
Son Kane Dele
What a team..
Steady yourself. We ain’t even in the quarters yet. And Danny Rose has been awesome on the left this season and your just ditching him. Get back in your box.

kwp cannot still be 3rd in line when next season starts, if he's not at least 2nd choice then he needs to leave for the sake of his career.

I don’t disagree, but if he hasn’t displaced at least one of our two underperforming players by the end of the season then I think he will be.

I think in reality KWP has been a spare squad member and to a degree foyth was at start of season. Most would have considered Dier 4th choice CB at start of season. Even now foyth may not make matchday squad when all fit. So if you’re gonna have a couple of young players hanging around squad I’d much rather they were attacking options than defensive. Foyth is obviously a valued member now. But we certainly don’t need x3 RB options. I’d much rather have a young AM/winger take that squad place. Two RB is plenty especially as we have 2 or 3 that could fill that spot in an emergency.

Right now it feels like this is our biggest issue. So thought it might be worth a thread to specifically discuss the options:

Options:
1. Trippier- I think we all know his pluses and minuses. A good option as a RWB but in a 4 gets exposed far too often. His lack of pace and height are regularly exposed and targeted.
2. Aurier- just far to eractic for me. Will have a great moment with an assist then do something stupid. Not a serious long term options for me.
3. KWP - still hard to judge as he is rarely played in his best position. There is obvious talent there but right now he’s a back up at best for me.
4.Foyth- I’m really warming to this as a possibility. I think he has all the tools to do the job. Pace height and a threat going forward.
5. Dier- As he appears to have dropped down the CM order maybe worth a shout as has played there for us. But for me he’s to cumbersome for the role.

What I’d do:

Sell Trippier + Aurier pocket the £40-50m to use on other areas CM. Make Foyth 1st choice and KWP back up. You’d also have Dier in an emergency. On the plus side we have lots of options and that’s even without buying.

Fuck me dead. This is what happens when we have a break ?

Aurier might do a “Sissoko” and come good in his 3rd season. He’s got all the raw materials...

This is so wildly optimistic IMO solely the rating wouldn't do it justice.

Physically he's got the tools, mentally, he's lacking and I don't see it changing unfortunately.

You could be right. But he does have a tenacious nature and Poch does seem to get the best out of battlers.

Moving Foyth to Rb would be madness, not because he couldnt do a job there, but because his potential at CB is so high that he needs to focus on that position and not be jerked around like Dier has.

Sell that rash accident waiting to happen Aurier

Meunier at PSG is the ideal replacement

Doherty at Wolves is the realistic one

You are probably not wrong, BUT - you could have written that post word-for-word 12 months ago about Sissoko and it would have had heaps of “Agree”s. So you never know.
