Right now it feels like this is our biggest issue. So thought it might be worth a thread to specifically discuss the options:

Options:
1. Trippier- I think we all know his pluses and minuses. A good option as a RWB but in a 4 gets exposed far too often. His lack of pace and height are regularly exposed and targeted.
2. Aurier- just far to eractic for me. Will have a great moment with an assist then do something stupid. Not a serious long term options for me.
3. KWP - still hard to judge as he is rarely played in his best position. There is obvious talent there but right now he’s a back up at best for me.
4.Foyth- I’m really warming to this as a possibility. I think he has all the tools to do the job. Pace height and a threat going forward.
5. Dier- As he appears to have dropped down the CM order maybe worth a shout as has played there for us. But for me he’s to cumbersome for the role.

What I’d do:

Sell Trippier + Aurier pocket the £40-50m to use on other areas CM. Make Foyth 1st choice and KWP back up. You’d also have Dier in an emergency. On the plus side we have lots of options and that’s even without buying.

Foyth as RB is a bad idea. He is doing well at the moment with CB. He is just 21, he will only get better at CB
But I agree on selling Trippier
I would sell Trippier. I am not against keeping Aurier. Max Aarons is being rumoured. From the 2 Norwich games I saw recently, he will make the cut & has great potential

If we are selling trippier & Aurier and not replacing surely Kwp becomes first choice over someone who’s never played the position before?

How much would Wan-Bissaka cost? I think we need a big statement transfer there. Its one of our most important positions and Aurier hasn't made the grade.

He effectively played RB last night and pocketed Pulisic. There’s very little difference playing on the right of a 3 or playing RB.

There’s a huge difference as a RB in a 4 would have to get up the pitch far more than being a RCB in a 3.

Foyth at wingback? He's great in a back 3 because he can still come forward and we have 2 centre backs still to cover. That's why he shows quality getting forward from time to time. Vertonghen actually does the same when he plays in a back 3. He gets forward a bit more and makes some good runs. It's a lot harder to do that with only 2 centre backs. There's been nothing to suggest Foyth as a wingback. Not to mention we can't lose another centre back especially if Toby leaves. I would personally play a back 3 with Sissoko right wingback. It's the best way to get Winks, Eriksen, Alli, Kane and Son into the team without being too open.

Sell Trippier and Aurier. That could net us £50m or so. Buy another RB to either compete with or back up KWP. KWP should be preferred the rest of the season with Aurier his immediate backup.

And why is this so ludicrous. He did an in depth interview a few days ago saying he was AM until he was 16. He’s more than physically capable of getting g up and down.

Such a coys200 thread, sometimes I wonder what goes through that mind of yours. :D

Sell Trippier and be done with it.
Give him a break, isn't he only like 12 or something? I'm sure he said something along those lines not long ago.

Pretty soon it'll be fingerbanging going through his mind and he won't have time for all this :shifty:

Plenty of options..
Dier can be a RB
Or Make Sissoko be a quality RB
Imagine we play 343 in CL final
Foyth, Sanchez Toby
Sissoko Winks Eriksen Jan
Son Kane Dele
What a team..

Where have I stated it ludicrous?

All I have said there’s a huge difference from playing as a RCB in a 3 than a Rb in a four especially in a poch team.

Although putting him a head of Kwp a out and out RB is a bit ludicrous now I think about it

Could you give me a specific reason Foyth couldn’t play RB. Pace ? Technical ability? Stamina ? Aerial ability ? Attacking quality ? Because I’m failing to see any area where he is lacking. There are plenty of CB that play full back. Vertoghen obviously last night Gomez at Liverpool Laporte City and pavard in a WC final. Have no idea why people think it’s so outrageous. If he was built like a muscular CB than fair enough. But he’s clearly agile and quick.
