When? At least in our last game we were terrible. If not for Hugo it could have been 3-0 at half time. Once Kane got his goal, they gave up.

It was a totally committed performance against Dortmund. Yes Lloris came to the rescue a few times but that’s his job. Just like De Gea when without him against us we would have won 6-1 . It goes down as a win just like the United game goes down as a loss however many chances we created in the second half. And the fact that top class opposition gave up with half the game remaining says something about our performance.

In fact, since we only had to really compete for half the match against Dortmund to get the job done makes it all the more baffling as to why we had to make 5 changes with a 3 week break ahead.

Lloris
Aurier Alderweireld Sanchez Vertonghen Davies
Eriksen Dele Sissoko Son
Kane
Would have made way more sense than how we lined up yesterday . A 5-4-1 coming off the back of a successful night in Germany that could have been tweaked to a 3-4-2-1

There was zero need to bring in KWP, Rose, Dier and Moura . I don’t believe in change for changes sake .

OK. I give Bednarek MOM because I thought he was the best player out there, and since he is both young and has PL experience and have some great traits, and I think we are lacking in the CB department, I'd be optimistic if we added him to the squad.
Sorry - he's not on the list.
I normally find it hard to see if an opposition player had a good game unless they ran the show like Messi and Hazard have done this season. So I don't know about Bednarek. But I have to acknowledge that was a fantastic freekick by James Ward-Prowse.

Seriously though, one of the worst defeats in ages that. Southampton were utter dog wank in the first half. We weren't really sharp with our play but couldn't help but have chances against such useless opposition. Hilariously the match thread were declaring this the best half of football of the season, and other ludicrous statements  However the game should have been wrapped up by HT in any case.

Second half was all about mentality. They came out and showed a little bit of desire, we had several who had switched off and then others disappeared as the going got tough and we fell apart. Poch and co. during all this decided once again, for unfathomable reasons, to just tell three players to stand up front and open the game up and deliberately create the open bollocks mess rather than attempt to wrestle control back of the game.

Tactically, technically, with ball, without ball, collectively, individually, on the pitch, in the dugout..... there is so much going wrong at the moment. Worryingly though in none of those individual facets do we seem to have any ideas as to how to fix it and make small improvements that you can then look to build a whole performance.

Excellent, committed, focused games against Dortmund. However those apart the last two months has been worrying with the lack of control over games that we have become used to in the last three years. Just does not look the same team at the moment; surely this can't be because everyone is off form?

If you haven't won any of your previous three league games, losing two of those, I think it's understandable that he changed the team up a bit.
