No matter how good we were second half we lost. People will remember the ball Pogba played to Rashford and come to conclusions he ran the show...United fans are such that they'll brush the result off as it's just Spurs and claim Ole G is tactically superior to Pochettinho.

This result really cheesed me off.

The ratings in the Times this morning are a complete joke. Winks a 6 and Pogba an 8, Jesus. With United a far higher amount in total.

Total joke ?.

Same in The Guardian.
All the Utd. defenders got 7
All the Spurs defenders got 6.
None of their players scored less than 7
Only three of ours (Dele, Eriksen and Kane)got above 6
Man Utd won
ergo all their players were better.
Do they even bother to watch the game?

Cant be too disheartened by that performance, our finishing is never usually that poor. Our midfield was brilliant.

Lloris shouldve done better for their goal, it wasnt right in the corner and the angle was tight.

It was right in the corner, unlike any of our clear-cut chances. That was the difference.

Dele and Eriksen played well second half (7)
Lamela (6) didn't offer much.
I find it odd that you feel Lamela didn't offer much, given that our best 45 minutes (by far) was with him on the pitch.

He got into pockets of space, playing forward passes into feet on multiple occasions, most of which ended with a chance (i.e. 2 for Kane), and won the ball back on the edge of our box to spring the counter for Dele's one-on-one.

Yes on reflection he did as you say.

Sky Sports player ratings none of our players was above the rating of 6,they had four players rated at 8 the rest at 7 and the keeper at 9 which is fair enough.

It hit the side netting just behind the far post. Get him to take that shot 9 other times he either puts it wide or Lloris saves it. Having said that, I too felt Lloris could have done better, but I’m no keeper so what do I know?

That game reminded me of the one a few seasons ago against Newcastle when Krul had the game of his life. It was one of those days...

This isn’t the first time we haven’t got what we deserved from the game but, then again, that can be offset by those games where we end up winning when we don’t deserve to, so I’m not going to get too RAWKY about it. These games happen, we take it on the chin and move on.

Similarly, here's the ratings from one of those stat-tracking sites, which far too many people give credence to:

Hugo Lloris - 8.01
Kieran Trippier - 7.37
Toby Alderweireld - 6.42
Jan Vertonghen - 6.40
Ben Davies - 6.32
Harry Winks - 6.60
Moussa Sissoko - 6.44
Christian Eriksen - 6.93
Dele Alli - 6.36
Son Heung-Min - 6.78
Harry Kane - 7.15

Yes we've only ourselves to blame with poor finishing, but the way the game has been reported is a joke imo.

Had that been at OT, and we had hung on to a 1-0 lead after an avalanche of attacks in the second half the press would of been glowing about United and how unfortunate they were.

Don't want to bang the same old drum about investment but that Utd are a shell of what Utd used to be and when you don't invest you end up losing these sort of games. They were there for the taking and if we had more depth in our squad in my opinion we could have taken all 3 from that game.

Should we have invested in a finishing coach then?

Quite often they don't especially the person giving the ratings. Normally someone that makes the tea or empties the bins

Lloris actually got a touch on it. I tiny bit more and he would have saved it. Such fine margins with so much at stake. If we could have put a few of half a dozen chances 6 inches wider of De Gea we'd have won at a canter.

Let them have it. The wheels will come off that average Utd team again before the season is over.

It's fast approaching the time when we change the name of the "ratings" thread, to the "was anybody better than Winks today" thread.

The yards he covers for the team and his focus on getting the ball forward are magnificent. He's a hairband short of being the next Modric.

Has a way to go to dictate the game like Luka did but he's still got time on his side and baring more injuries or the recurrence or worsening of his existing injury who knows. Certainly hope he can keep improving, will be great to watch the journey

The boys done great so far....

Maybe someone else who could come off the bench and finish rather then llronte?

Yeah or maybe our normally realizable finishers had an off day...

Didn't see people piping up about lack of squad depth against Everton or Bournemouth, we didn't lose because we are short of numbers, we lost because we wasted multiple opportunities to put the ball in the back of the net.

And if we have a possible substitute who could come off the bench to replace our players having an off day that might have changed the result

How can you give all UTD defenders 7 or over? De Gea broke the record for the most saves because of how easy we broke down their defense.
