Only 1 man of the match possible but without Llorente none of those goals were likely to happen. He changed the game.

For all their pretty football ultimately Ajax were outdone by an old fashioned target man...

Agree. Interesting analysis on Bein sport (youtube).
(Post match, the studio was like a morgue with Gullet, Barnes and Mourinho - they were not happy.)

But it seems route-one football is a well known weakness of Ajax and their footballing philosophy. Manu beat then in the europa mainly down to Fellaini winning everything in the air.
Llorente couldn't believe his luck.

Of course we went route-one in the first leg too, to no effect, so there was something else going on tonight. Defensively they were all over the place.

Rose for me MOM across the two legs then Moura pops up with three incredible goals and so MOM has to go to him

Difficult to decide. First half it was Sissy. Second half the boys stepped up. What a difference. Nando made. Suddenly their CBS has to work. Dele found some of his old magic tricks, Rose plays like a man who is 12inches taller,Eriksen never stops running and never stops trying the killer passes. Jan and Toby calmed it down at the back and played safe. Even Tripps got some great tackles in. But I think overall Lucas edged it, by a margin wider than the Grand Canyon. Fantastic 45mins work.

Obviously Lucas and Llorente, but massive shout out to Dele. Two assists and a massive desire to win. Was stuck in and all over the park, even in the first half. Massive performance from him.

On more sober reflection, and whilst the euphoria of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat still lingers, I am still perplexed as to what the players were doing in the first half.

Was it the set up? Was it really Llorente that made the game so different? I'll have to watch it again in a calmer state of mind.

Like many, I wet the bed in the first half. Lost the plot. I couldn't get my head around the performance, the seeming inability to make a simple pass, defending like its.a.new concept. The continual lacklustre and plodding inability to move the ball with any speed around the penalty box.

I think it was the occasion. For me, it was 100% mentality. They cannot afford.to start like that in the final. Play like that 2nd half for the full 90 and pochettino could be pulling off the biggest victory in my history of supporting spurs. (38 years).

Incredible that even though Moura got a hat trick my first instinct was to go for Rose MotM. He showed he has some serious cojones!

I did wonder why he was subbed, but came to the conclusion poch was probably trying to protect him a bit after the yellow for throwing the ball?

I thought we were doing fine first half. The problem was 2 players in particular being well off their game, giving the ball away in our half etc. As soon as Wanyama came off and Trippier was no longer tasked with having to try to defend properly those problems were solved.

I cant agree with the fine.comment. The rest yes. They over ran us, especially in the midfield areas and had far more vigour.

Lloris made a couple of blinding saves and kept us in it right near the end. Played like a Captain.

Danny Rose is one feisty little geezer.

Sissoko. Beasted the midfield. Hardly knew deJong was on the pitch.

Lucas Moura. 3 fantastic finishes and straight through deLigt's channel as well. MOM.

Llorente. Game changer. At last we played to his strengths. Blind was helpless against him and we were playing balls to him that he could do something with. Toby and Jan were picking him out at will and he won just about everything.

There were some great performances out there, but these guys deserve a special mention.

Lloris - We wouldn't be in the final if it weren't for him. Some great saves.

Rose - He was a real leader out there in the second half. No-one showed more fight than him.

Sissoko - Another great performance. Grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck.

Alli - Great composure and awareness for the final goal.

Moura - What can you say? The best performance by a Tottenham player since the night Bale became a superstar?

Llorente - We finally used him properly and he produced his best 45 minutes in a Tottenham shirt.
